Well i was a lucky boy this morning i got up early to stretch the Ms legs and decided to go to the V8 breakfast up here in the North of Scotland , a busy turn out was expected as the local Lotus group were coming with 30 cars , so i arrived early to bag a good space on the Car Park.

the Car park grew and i got chatting to the guy next to me who's Westfield weighs in at 300 bhp/tonne

as well as some of the 20 plus Lotus from the local area - i was surprised how much i loved the sounds of the V8 Esprits..

Anyway after a decent breakfast and a real good chat with local petrol heads I got an invite to join several see a local collection of AC LeMans Cars owned by a local expert - one of which is the almost mythical 1964 AC Cobra Coupe - a great drive up to the car following the V8 Esprits pictured above and then a real treat a good couple of hours looking at these cars with fellow local petrol heads. The 1964 car is mythical as there is an urban myth that it was this cars test at 183 mph on the M1 prior to Le Mans which put in place the National Speed limit we know and love.

A really great afternoon thanks to the generous offer of a local petrolhead family who love to share their fantastic collection of ACs with fellow petrol heads.

looks like a great day out, love the AC's

I thought the testing of the E-Type had a lot to do with the speed limit introductions also?

Looking good!

What engine was in the Westfield?

Saw that Lambo yesterday morning just after 9am on the midmar road as I was heading out to the hills. Just before him was a Ginetta.

The Engine was a Rover V8 , the Ginetta G40 was lovely, the guy has just bought it after selling a classic 911 , its a cracking little car.

I think your right Steven in terms of other car makers using the M1 at the time but it was the Cobra story which caused a stink at the time.

But as the article says and the AC Cobra owner said yesterday the limit was out in place 3 years after the run by Barbara Castle.

Looks like an enjoyable way to spend the weekend. Funny how small an Elise looks next the the Zed considering how small the Zed looks next to most other cars.

It was Strange Inkey it was like being in the land of the giants the Zed looks huge next to the Elises and Exiges . There was a couple of new Exiges there yesterday and they are stunning they look like Mini F40s.

That looks like another great day ZermattV - that V8 breakfast thing is a fine event near you - I don't know of anything similar down this way - though I should have a better look !

Like how you got your M in the background of the AC Cobras !

He he - it was a stroke of luck I'd actually parked over there as the viewing was mainly for the local Lotus Group who were parked on the other side of the lawn - so they could get their group shot .
