So, sorry for radio silence from the bear folks, he is alive and well and has been busy over the last couple of weeks.
Having picked him up from Zedfest (awesome event, thanks again Neil!), Zedward was inserted into my car (thanks Alan/No.5!) and began the journey back to Yorkshire. It was cracking weather, so the bear wasted no time in settling in...
Then he had quite a quiet week and generally made himself useful around the house. He met all my folks the weekend after so a few days later he was itching to get back in the Zed and get out there for some fun. However, when it came to getting ready to go out, he couldn’t help notice the car was filthy – black car owners can relate, I am sure - so he set about giving it a wash.
Being the fastidious bear he is, Zedward insisted on getting all the hard-to-reach areas too..!
He even made sure it was clean under the bonnet – he says he was caught out by that before although he wouldn’t tell me who he was with at the time...and after that, he had a quick rest.
Having spent a couple of weeks in Yorkshire, he asked whether I could take him to see where they make real beer. We decided a trip out to Masham (where they brew Theakstons and Black Sheep) might be in order, so off we set. He certainly fills the car!
We arrived at Masham and he had a walk around the Theakstons Brewery
He even had the opportunity to see the hops growing!
In the gift shop, he found lots of interesting-sounding things he might later eat – although I did warn him about trying too many new food in the same day.
Having had his little walk around, we jumped back in the car and headed off for a picnic.
He said he’d be happy just taking in the scenery and watching the other, less good-looking cars go by all day.
We returned home that evening and had a chat about what he might want to do before he begins his next journey to another Zed-owner. He told me (in a hushed voice) that he’d seen quite a lot of motorbikes on the roads in Yorkshire, especially when we’d gone to learn how they make beer, and that he might be interested in the bikes but that he’d never seen one up close.
So after a bit of thought, we went to see Forum member Chris///M6. At Chris’ place he got his first taste of sitting on a bike – said he quite liked it!
Obviously, I told him to keep his voice down a bit and to keep his impure thoughts to himself but there was no stopping him! Chris was busy taking things apart on his Honda SP1 and cleaning bits and pieces so, after a little prompting, Zedward got stuck in...
I told him off for not wearing the right safety gear and we soon had that sorted out..
He even got involved in fabricating a few parts with Chris’ permission!
So the bank holiday is here and Zedward told me he thought it might be time he moved on, having experienced some great stuff in Yorkshire – beer, bikes and all.
I think the general idea is that he heads back up to Newcastle area, so if you are based up that way, he’d love to hear from you, or just PM me to arrange a meet-up.
Cheers, Stevo
