Zedward - A Thank you from Lauren's Mum

Well the sun broke through and I took Zedward for a walk along the millennium coastal path in Llanelli,we did about 3 miles and I couldn't help noticing his face light up when he saw the playground by the café.

Then Zedward was complaining of being thirsty so we stopped at the Globe in Loughor for a few swift ones on the way back.

People love him they haven't seen a teddy bear this big before, I work 7-3 and on the way home pass a primary school at finishing time, all the kids love waving to him. :)

Well the sun is truly out in South Wales and Zedward has been helping me in the garden today.

This is a remarkable story and adventure and all concerned should be very proud of themselves.
Our three grandchildren are following his adventures and wonder why we can't have one.

As a reward for his hard work in the garden I told Zedward to grab a beer from the fridge.

No he wasn't happy at the time because the weather had taken a turn for the worse but he was soon happy to be in a dry, warm coupe travelling West for a few days. Then he sulked a bit coz the rain wouldn't stop so we sat down and watched a film which he liked.

Fixed - I expect Zedward's behaviour will be going downhill after watching that movie
Yes you were right Bing he has been copying the behaviour of Ted and I'm not happy with it. I went for a shower and check some emails and this is the sight that greeted me, I told him to help himself to A BEER, not the whole fridge full. He is now banned from drinking and will have to do some exercise to get back into some shape. :x

This is worrying Goon, are you going out of your way to pass the Primary School ?

I can see his goodwill at household chores is going to get abused, especially when he's up 'Norf.

Quality thread this; some quite inventive posts n pics. The only issue is that he's moved maybe 50 or 100 miles from where he started and I'm not sure we'll get him where he belongs - that's Yorkshire btw - before about December at this rate...!!

All good fun mind and hoping to show him the sights soon enough.

I recon the way he's knocking those beers back, he will be a fat bugger by the end of this run

I will be putting him on a training plan to address the issue starting with a bit of golf.

Best thread on the Forum a for all the right reasons for once. Some hilerious pics of his adventures so far. I second the notion that he's going to need prompting to get around the country though. Can't see him making Lands End this year at this rate. Plus he's going to need a bath. Important part though, as long as he's raising funds I reckon he can just roam where bears wana roam. :D

Guys, Lauren's Mum Has posted an update on Laurens condition on her own fundraising site:

I've pasted it here :

Thought it was about time I posted an update!!

Lauren's initial appointment with the pacemaker surgeon back at the beginning of Feb did result in a requirement for further tests as expected.

Unfortunately, in late Feb, Lauren developed dismotility in her bowel which is causing some of the feed from her bowel to make its way back to her stomach, making her sick and constantly nauseous. Lauren had a 2 week stay in hospital to try to stabilise the situation as at the time of admission she was unable to tolerate any feed at all. Thankfully she is now tolerating a lower rate of feed and is managing well.

The dismotility is at present a sticking point for the pacemaker surgery. Ideally this needs to be controlled first to give Lauren the best chance of success. So, I am off to the pharmacy today to pick up a carrier bag full of new meds prescribed after a consultation with a top neurogastroenterologist. He has also suggested that Lauren has subcutaneous injections into her abdomen to try to relieve her chronic abdominal wall pain. The hope is that this, the new meds, some abdominal physio and a cocktail of super strength vitamins and minerals will help alleviate the dismotility. Fingers crossed.

Lauren has a second appointment with the pacemaker surgeon mid June, which we will attend although I am certain he will want to hold fire for the moment to see if the dismotility can be controlled.

As impatient as I am for things to get moving for Lauren, I know that it is important that the conditions are as favourable as possible to achieve the best possible outcome. Lauren is an absolute trooper and is attending school as much as possible, playing her sax and remains upbeat and positive despite the setbacks and feeling uncomfortable and in considerable pain.

I guess the delays give us more time to get our head around the situation, save and fund raise! On that note
I must mention a fabulous group who are out fund raising for Lauren as we speak. If you see a giant bear in a BMW - give them a wave!

Thank you all for your continued support xx

Jo Holding

So there you go guys, Lets get this bear moving and boost the fund raising as much as possible for them.
