Zeds on track

Goodwood. Low 1:29 achieved, car has more in it, driver needs to be a bit braver

It was pretty impossible to not need a 'dab of oppo' at that corner tbh! But it's an interesting photo to me also. I'd been struggling so much with traction out of the tight stuff (compared not only to gt3etc but also m3/4) and looking at the rubber left behind me there is little rubber laid down in the centre of the stripe. Could be tyre pressure (they were about 31 psi hot, I'll try that a little higher on friday), but maybe it needs more camber which I've found in the past doesn't work well with the small amount of toe out I run at the rear. Think I might rethink the geo a bit and go -ve or neutral toe at the rear with more camber (i'm on about -1.8 or so), not sure yet. Maybe I can do something with the (currently neutral toe -3ve camber front to help turn in, which I found the +ve rear toe really helped with. It's all a compromise in the end isn't it, feeling fun isn't necesarily fastest, and there's always someone faster than you one a track day that's for sure!
Thanks for the thought with the pads, thankfully a guy brought a set down with him. They were the st45s, I hadn't tried them yet, thought they were amazing and better than the 'mu's I have. Extremely dusty though

Looks awesome Tom!

I found this as well, (obviously) much more so since I've installed the LSD. The M3s and M4s that were attending the evening session created a bit of a challenge to see who can hold the biggest drift out of Melbourne! A few spun completely and they all got a talking to when they returned to the pits lol

Fortunately, like you, I kept it quite minimal.

nice! It's a fun but frustating corner/sequence. Much prefer the national layout.

I also prefer the national layout. Though I do find when attacking the chicane in the national layout the tyre barrier seems very close! :P

Couple of laps of a sunny evening a couple of weeks ago at Donington. Good to see so many zeds there, I think 4xMs at least! :) 2 of them appear at the end of this.
All the revs with the new FD 8)

Yeah that was us. Me in the blue coupe, was teaching a friend so apologies she was mega slow. Gary is his Z4M roadie and the Infamous Ed in his black M coupe.

I actually bought a photo of your coupe by mistake.

Lol! Sorry not to say hi, I did meet Ed finally after many years (it must be now) of chatting
Never seen so many zeds on track

Would have loved to join you on this one! It looked awesome and Donington is one of my favourite tracks! Would have been well outgunned with my non-M though haha

 was good to finally meet you in person Tom! Didn't realise you had the 4.44 FD fitted - your car was certainly going well! What Tyres were you running on the day? It really was a great evening in the end - shame not to have had a chance to chat for longer, but I just wanted to grab the last half hour on track before it closed up!

Rather pleased with the photography too - they got some crackers of mine *ahem* finally on track again! Quite pleased they captured my discs glowing red - those pads were/are honestly awesome.

Very nice shots, the light was good :) Yeah sorry for nattering on and spending probably way too much time trying out your (gear) knob
The st45s are indeed pretty amazing. I was on a nice new set of AR-1, just dipped into the 19s which is as fast as I've ever been round there.

There were non-M going faster than 1 or 2 Ms for sure... be good to get a bunch of us all together one day, can't be that hard to organise can it :scratchhead:

Bit of a thread resurrection but I spotted a few other members recently talking about tracking their zeds, so it'd be nice to get a few more pics and banter going again :)

Few of mine from when the sun came out at this year's 'ring trip. I'm gutted all my mates are back again next weekend, but my second child will be arriving on Tuesday so that's put paid to that!!

Good to see it back ed :) Feel like I started the thread at a time when it seemed a bit taboo around here to track a z4 for some reason, roll on a few years and judging by the number of interesting threads that's changed
Big congratulations on your 2nd!! Shame to conflict but the ring will still be there no doubt. Other more boring reasons means I haven't been for a while, fingers crossed I can get something booked next year. Actually even some uk days would be good, the car has not moved much this year :x
Anyway, back to the thread title :driving:
Good luck next week!

Thanks Tom :)

That's a cracking pic of yours! It really makes me want a) to respray mine, and b) to get some Aero Skirts!

Agree with you, seems to be a lot more interest in tracking Zeds these days than a few years back, which is good!

I wont be foolish enough to commit to anything just yet, but I'm definitely keen for a few UK trackdays next year - no idea if a ring trip will be realistic, but fingers crossed either way!! Keep me posted if you get anything booked, I'll do the same :) Donny is now my local, so I'm hoping as a minimum to get a couple in there next year whatever happens!

Also, did you get your random cutting out issue resolved on the M in the end? What was it?
