So where is the pic of Simon’s efforts on the engine bay?

I didnt get a pic but someone else did... mid conversation

Simon introduced me to a wonder product! Every time I clean the engine bay it doesn't last long and takes ages this stuff was spray on and wipe off and it worked a treat! Simon will have to add it to the thread as I can't remember exactly I think it was autoglym vinyl and rubber care?

Ah yes, that product has two functions - if you leave it longer, it becomes shiny, if you wipe it off straight away, it leaves it mat.

I use that a lot as well, is great.

Ive been looking for a good product to clean plastic and rubber that lasts and I was really impressed so will be buying a bottle! I use the meguires stuff and it's messy takes a while to cure and doesn't last long.

We were discussing the engine bay and cleaning the metal areas of the engine as it seems to stain. Any wonder products that might help with that?

For Scottish level metal, I use 0000 wire wool

ah ok so basically wire wool and metal polish, the bits are so intricate its probably a day job for the winter months

Yep, we cleaned every bolt and metal bit on top so far using that. The wool to get the major rust off, then autosol to finish it off.

And I discovered that petrol is a great grease remover as well, when I replaced the fuel filter on the Golf it obviously leaked the fuel and with a cloth I could wipe the stubborn grease very easily around the various areas
