Zed vs Boxster

No..

DFi are a better unit... Although true to porsche designers, they are not totally fault free..

Guido, the M96/97 although looks similar it is of a totally different design to the Metzger..

Yes I know. I didn't say that.
I said that the stock engine line for previous boxster/nonturbo nongt# 911 (so that is the m96/0# and m97/0#) is less reliable than the racier Mezger (I think that's designated as M97/70 (or variants of that code: M97/7#) in regard to these problems. And that is strange (mezger engine being 'race pedigree'). With bmw (and most brands) it's usually the other way round :D

So the moral of the story..... if you'd happen to buy a porsche, it should be a turbo or GT3 (or gt2 :crazydude: )

I went from a 3.0 Z4 roadster to a 996 4S. The cars are 100% different. The Porsche is miles faster , handles better, is more stable, is more of en event , more satisfying to own in all aspects. The only downside to the Porsche is the cost of keeping it on the road. I spent more in the 1st year of Porsche ownership than I did in 5 years of Z4 ownership. Value for money, the Z4 wins hands down. If I was to sell the Porsche, I'd hunt down a Z4 coupe, no question. Would I trade a Z4 for a Boxster, no, but I'm happy I did for the 911.

That poor mans 911 is an old top gear quote and is both garbage and predictable in my humble opinion. I'd have the new style boxster or cayman in a heartbeat over the e89 to e85/6. Though personally my need for practicality now would mean I'd likely go for an older 911 if I could find one without IMS or bore scoring troubles. Oh and that £500 road tax thing, yikes.

That said... I'd like a nice 997 Gen II please... in silver or grey.
