Having got my Zed 3 litre 2 weeks ago, I have driven it every day.............thrilling to the gutteral growl. My Golf Mk6 (no slouch neither!) has been somewhat neglected. I drove it to work today. Ye Gods, I felt like I was in a high chair and driving a Russian tractor in comparison. I was so traumatised I sat and drove in silence, radio off, 56mph on the A12. I loved the Golf when I got it. A 1.4tsi turbo, dsg box. But it feels so lumpen in comparison. However sensible head says Golf for work, Zed for pleasure, and maybe the odd trip to work n back on sunny days. I suppose the Golf is my wife, the Zed my mistress.

welcome

I was/ am looking at the 1.4 TFSI twin charger Polo Gti - i think its a nice responsive engine - but its certainly no straight 6!

But imo nothing i have driven beats the DSG box for slickness

Had an Audi A3 3.2 Quattro a couple of cars ago with the DSG box.. I wasn't that impressed. Found it very jerky in auto mode, especially setting off on a hill .. to the point where it was embarassing. Had it replaced under warranty and it was still the same, Also had issues where I put it in reverse to reverse off the drive and the gear would engage, just stayed in neutral. Maybe just one of the quirks of the box but not what you would expect from the price of it and all the raving it gets..

Dont get me wrong, the change via the paddles was very quick and smooth but 90% of the time I would just leave it auto anyway. The auto in my Z4 is so much smoother!! :P

I briefly owned a MK V golf 2.0 fsi a few years back a nice looking car the 3 door version with the optional bodykit and the 17" grand prix alloys, but coming from a Audi TT 180 Quattro The Golf was bit of a let down and the GF thought it was a bit daddsy and nicknamed it Colin(ie not a very interesting name for a uninteresting car),so it went the journey and we bought a E46 320ci sport coupe which was much more to our liking.
