Zed stolen!

Cheers for the feedback guys. So the police have been round they think the window was prized open from below and it was " lifted".

Yea as for payout it's valued for what I paid or it last year which was 16k. Prices are stronger now so hopefuly they won't be able to negociate muh. As for shortfall insurance I didn't even know about that nor was I offered it. Would it have been added on my policy automatically or would it have been an extra option??

Hopefully will be able to find a suitable replacement with all the kit for that kinda cash and the insurance won't be a headache!!!

I'm over being gutted now

Jamie now is the time to start gathering info on prices, get prinouts of all the Z4's on the BMW site and other with same/similar spec as you can use these when your insurance company offer you a silly figure which they most probably will.

Really sorry to hear your news. I know what your going through my keys were stolen through the letter box. As people have already said do your homework and get comparisons as the insurance co will try it on. I refused the first 3 offers until I was happy but they did drag their feet hoping that the inconvinience will get you to accept. As a side note I also had the BMW gap insurance, what a waste of time they are less than useless. Became a Nightmare and in the end complain so much they refunded my premium. I know my local dealership well and explained the problems I came across. I was then told that they BMW have now changed supplier  looks like may have had other complaints?
Anway hops it's all sorted soon mate then you have the nice job of finding another

Seems like an inside job. I'm sorry man. What thief makes no mess?

Just my two pebbles

Oh my god i'm so sorry to hear that. I would be devestated.

Scum like that make me so mad, they want stringing up by their bollocks.

Please post details and pictures of your car in this thread, i'll keep a look out for it.

A colleague of mine had very similar, broke in through insecure door stole car keys, wallet, Blackberry, A4 document file and left the ipod next to the wallet made no mess.

Didnt take car, only thought was it's an Auto and they had trouble? then they dumped everything Blackberry in neighbours gardens, wallet thrown under a car along with document file, only thing not found were they keys.

Got broken into about 6 weeks or so ago, thankfully I was in the Zed and had the keys to my 406 :?

Plenty of stuff stolen, camera memory stick and data on laptops was the worst of it, non-replaceable.

Definitely post some pics of your car, would be well up for a chase if I saw it 8)

Im not sure even if i want it back should they find it. Wont it being registered as stolen/recovered negativly impact the resale value?
Anyhow - here are lots of pictures of it http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13308

Its actually sinking in now. Expecially after scouring the web for similarly speced car - there just isnt anything out there the same for the same money!!!

Inside job or stolen to order? I just dont know. Not that many people have been in my flat and I trust my flatmates. Then again - just just dont know do u.
It was very bizzare indeed, like they took a watch of mine to the value of £125, but right next to it was my passport which they didnt touch and next to that another watch to the value of £900.

I'm sure the passport was of no interest to them really, the expensive watch you would expect would go.

Anything else? They left my Xbox & Wii (and a £1000 amp) but took old mobiles which apparently explains it was a bloke doing it for drug money, easily redeemable for cash. Dont know whether your fella would have used your Z4 just to get away and for a bit of a laugh, or whether he's got somewhere lined up for it already.

Let's get some pics here:

Shouldn't be too hard to spot with that giant aerial on the back

Cheers Andy

No nothing else at all, perhaps cos they gained entry via a window and left via the same window

I dont like looking at pics of my car now - :|

Know how you feel, I went to great lenghts to get over mine.. like rearranging rooms so the memory of someone being there fades, etc.

It's an absolute pain, but you have to try and turn it around, make it into a positive.

You never know, there might be a belting 3.0Si out there with Nav that comes in your price range..

Humm - i got fuel as a benifit in kind at work but am limited to 2.5 cars. I might see if they can make an exception due to my circumstances, might say that insurance are offering me a car of equal value but its 3.0. end of the day its the same MPG. i presume the tax band in the £400 league tho?

Stolen to order/export/parts as a high value car, hence no damage, little else taken and a clean entry and exit to the house.
Lifting patio doors off their runners is the worlds oldes break-in method and so simple and silent.

The one advantage of pros is they don't trash the place that amateurs do, but that may not seem any consolation now.

Sorry to hear that. Can Norwich Union arrange a hire car for you? I hope you have shortfall insurance,
shortfall insurance??
How does that work ; never seen it available?
Russ

If you paid £25k for your car 2 years ago, and now it has just been stolen. Your motor insurance policy will only pay you up to market value (usually lower), say £17k. Shortfall insurance will pay £8k to the original purchase price of the vehicle. You wil then have £25k from 2 insurance policies, and buy your new car. Last time I paid £1k for shortfall insurance for my E60, when the car was 6-month-old. The policy covered up to 4 years after I bought the car.

It's not essential thoiugh is it?

Ie, you insure your car at market value, and replace it like for like, so it's not a problem.

See shortfall insurance as just a nice extra (at cost), to allow you to get a new car if your 'old' one is nicked.

Dave

Wish I'd taken mine, they offered it at £399 and even though I did incredibly well on depreciation it would be nice to know I'd still get 32+ for it three years later... I'd get an 09.

I have it, but as with everthing, if you have the insurance and would not mind the car being stolen - it will never happen :D
