Zed Prices, We have it lucky in the UK.

There's been a couple of threads recently with people choosing to significantly mod their Zed's which has been met by some distain especially by UK members who seem to think the answer lies in simply buying an M, I think the problem is we have it to easy as prices go and have little understanding of what other countrys have to go through.

The reason I say that is, I went for walk last night and passed a showroom here in Goiania (Brazil) and there was a very clean looking 06/07 Imola Red Z4M for sale, the cost R$240,000 which at current exchange rates is approx £90600 :o

I'll admit I can't put that into context of how much a 3.0Si or any other Zed may cost here but it still made my eyes bleed to see it.
 
You're so right.

I have friends who run 4x4's in Germany and have to restore them to showroom spec. each year before the annual 'MOT' and in other countries the taxation laws make bigger engined cars impossible to justify.

still you trump it with that sticker price :o

Lol - true, but I was thinking of Norway where it was better to fit an ESS to a 2.5 than try to buy a 3.0 or ///M
 
I'm glad you started this thread. I'm tired of people slagging the UK off as though everything is worse here than anywhere else, and it's usually folks who have never actually left the British Isles and seen what others have to content with.

Yep, ..and by the looks of this link you first have to pay £21,500 for a 2004 Z4.

There is the concept of 20% luxury tax before the vat is added on top.

But at least they have decent insurance companies :poke:

After £21k for the car and £2k for road tax I'd have nothing left for insurance !
 
£90k for a Z4M ! thats very interesting, explains why when i was in Rio on honeymoon last year i never saw any decent motors, all sheds apart from a porsche cayenne, wonder how much that cost over there !
 
It was $140,000 AUD for the z4M in Australia. About 3x more than the UK :o

Then we get ripped off even more with parts and accessories.
 
Yeah, i've been looking at prices in Brisbane. A used s35i will set you back $114,000 AUD (that's over £60k)... :x
 
I payed about £52.000 for my SI Coupe this year. 30.000 of these where taxes and crap to the government to get the numberplates on... :headbang:
£20.000 of these where for the car in Germany. Rest was transport and labour. Pretty expensive here in Norway. I have done some calculations of how much my car would have cost new in 2006: About £80.000!! :sos:
Theres is now some M Roadsters for sale here and they cost about £70.000-80.000.
Another example is a used 2010 E89 23i S-Drive with some nice extras. The price is set for £65.000.

For insurance I first payed about £950 per year, but have now changed the insurance and am now down to £540. :thumbsup:
