zed ownership -not off to a good start :-(

Hi all,its just hit me really,owned my zed for 18 weeks and its had nearly £1400 spent on it!-thankfully its dealer and warranty paid for,but still -not a good start,not what i expected at all really-i can remember reading on here how these cars across the range are pretty much bullet-proof(apart from springs,roof motor,wipers),i know no car can be totally guaranteed faultless but its only got 35000 miles on it! :cry:
 
Eep, that's not good :o What's gone wrong with it so far? My biggest bill has been for the whole alarm system to be replaced at nearly £500 :cry:
 
sounds like you're just unlucky :( My mate's 07 2.0 litre has done nearly 80,000 miles and other than tyres and brake pads the only issue was a cracked manifold replaced under warranty. My car's been great over four years as well.
 
Spring replaced,stalling issue which involved diagnosis,adjustment of valves as the engine was being starved :? ,diagnosis-cracked manifold,leaking vacuum pump-i dread driving it now :cry: -i know ive been 'lucky ' in that the dealer and warranty have coughed up,but only after a lot of wrangling and lost sleeps!! :cry:
 
If its any consolation, you can rest assured half of your car is new!!!!

Thats a lot of bad luck. These cars seem pretty bullet proof bar the common problems.
 
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and admit that you have bought a car that you will never be happy with and cut your loss,sell it .Then look for one that has a good history or one thats from a known source.Dont wait till summers over or you will lose more money. :evil:
 
Andy the main problem is you bought a 2.0, but just be grateful you didn't buy a facelift 6 cylinder model with the N52 engine otherwise you would worry about HVA's unless they have been done already.
 
I wonder if these issues were showing before you bought it.That's why it was traded in. The dealer sold it on unknowingly.At least you have the warranty.On the whole, you have a very reliable car,these Z's are really good.
 
Sounds like u have been a bit unlicky,but these things can happen with any car,regardless age or make.
I have had mine(2005 3.0) for over 4yrs now,and had spent around £850 over the 1st 3 yrs/meaning a modest £284 avg per yr,on Servicing/Repairs and Roadtax.......
but it has cost me over £1k in brakes alone(after a recurring problem with front brakes,ebc stuff,which doesnt appear to be fuly resolved :headbang: ),not to mention the other £1k on suspension links,2xtractn cont sensors,etc,etc...all in the past 14 months,and a full insp2 service and mot are still due!!
The point being,i could have sold it last yr,and bought an m roadster...but sometimes things just happen at a certain age/mileage,and i still LOVE my z4 :D
 
Thanks for the kind words chaps,thats what i keep telling myself bigshurv,it just seems to 'put an edge' to the start of my zed ownership. :roll:
 
Had my four-pot from new since Sept 2006. 38k miles and just two oils services, £36 for a 'transport mode' reset and shortly a pair of rear springs.

I'm happy with that. :)
 
I remember years ago when working for a major used car chain,the dealership sold a Jag with a known broken steering rack. They had it welded up ( ie, bodged) and told the customer to bring it back in 4 weeks so they could get it fixed under warranty at a Jaguar dealer.The customer was ok with this and that's what they did.It cost the warranty company a fortune,but they coughed up.I'm not saying that's what happended with yours, but I know it happens in the motor trade.
