Zed Leaks and solutions.

Evening all, given my continuing battle with water ingress, I wanted to put together a thread of any leaks you may have had which let water in to your Zed. In addition, how did you resolve the leak?

My passenger side leak issue seems to have reoccurred and I'm at a loss on what is causing it.

Think this could be a helpful thread as it seems to come up fairly often.

I have only had my '06 for about a month, and have not experienced any leaks. I am spraying my top with scotch-guard about every other week.

Good idea. Get all leak issues together so we can see any which seem to be common.

I have a damp issue somewhere but have no idea where to start looking. I can smell it but I can't find any sign of wet carpet.

I think it could be a useful resource for people with leak or damp issues.

Arguably the most common problem seems to be door membrane issues. This normally comes from damage done by someone working with the door card off. The damage to the membrane allows water to creep into the footwell of the car. This can be resolved by taking off the door card and replacing the membrane or repairing it. I had this issue and this resolved it.

Not sure what the cause of the recent leak is. The roof drain seems to be clear, the water used to test it flows out the bottom with relative ease.

Had a little leak on the passengers down cut a line in the door seal which seems to drain it out rather than into the car also i bought some auto glyn rubber stuff and havnt noticed a leak since. Also i seem to always have a wet patch under the passenger sides seat but havnt go to the bottom of that one yet! Just got a hardtop to will see if it drys up now....

Best way to find where the leak is coming from, hire a smoke machine (as per mobile DJ discos), shut inside the car and fire up the smoke machine and look for where the smoke leaks from (from the outside of the car!). Old motor trade trick
