Zed Judged in the Local Club Concours

I don't know what I was thinking or how I got myself into this thing, but for some crazy reason I decided to have my Z judged in the BMW CCA Puget Sound Chapter annual Concours d' Elegance this year. I started digging all of the dirt out of the cracks and crannies, crap, this work is absolutely endless (example: take a look at your door hinges and think about cleaning them until they look brand new). I thought I could get a leg up by having the engine steam cleaned, nothing doing, that gets about half of the dirt out of it. I decided before I started, if I do this, I'm going for first place (why else would anyone put themselves through this). Anyway, as it turns out, I took the first place trophy in the Z car class. I was in total shock!

BTW the Z3 with the scissors doors next to me wasn't judged, just displayed. It got a lot of attention though.
 
Including clay, polish,wax, interior leather and vinyl clean and treatment, as well as pulling all 4 wheels to clean the barrels and backs plus steel wool and polish the brake hubs I'd say about 40 hours total. You need to somehow cleverly clean places where your hands or fingers won't fit. Ridiculous huh?
 
Ugh why would someone put lambo doors on a z?

OK folks, I got the message. Here are more shots of the event. They're not great, didn't have my filters right yet. If you want to see more details of the car, you'll have to wait until I can take them. Probably won't show much in photos, not like the real thing, but I'll try. And yeah those scissors doors on the Z3 look kind of dopey, that rig was really overly modified.

I drove to the event about 20 miles from my home. You get a couple of hours to continue detailing the car before it's judged. Bring along a bag of microfiber towels, some quick detailer etc. and wipe it down.

Someone asked about the wheels, they are Petrol Octanes and, unfortunately, they have been discontinued. I looked for a long time to find them.
