Z5

Looks like an E89 that's been snapped with an estate agent's camera to me.
Unless the wheels on the first picture are 15 inchers and it IS in fact a new MX5 rival...... :|

Oh no, that's kind of ok ish from the front. But my goodness the a#se is awfull. As a whole it just looks fat, in those pictures at least.

It's not too outlandish, but yep agree looks like photoshop of e89 and the 4series concept bits, with the rear from the retrofutureM1 concept.

Whatever they end up doing, hopefully the next z4/z5 will be a bit different, i.e. not like the current bmw visual trend, but something unique (marmitey like the z3mc), hoping if they do follow trend, then they will incorporate some i8 styling...

EDIT* Just noticed how much the M1 hommage resembles a lot of the i8 sihloutte

That just looks like a mishmash photoshop of current bmw models. A lot of items from the 4 series. If the wheels were that big you'd need truck tyres for it.

I have a feeling that the Z5 will actually take styling ques from the i8. Just like the e89, its a niche car to change the styling without too much business risk.

no point in commenting on the doodles above.

I liked the front a lot but back looks wrong. Shame cos it looks great from the front but couldn't live with the back. Maybe it will look better in the flesh if it ever gets built.

The fact that they are JV'ing with Toyota doesn't fill me with confidence at all. What on earth are Toyota going to bring to the party - they've lost their way massively in recent years. If it was Lexus then it might have been a bit more interesting but it isn't. It's Toyota.

The GT86 from what I've read.

I think BMW should work on a Z3 replacement and go back to a retro look and keep the Z3 badge, an under the skin modernised Z3 on a 1 Series platform would do it for me that the 4 has never really managed.

Sorry but if the GT86 is the best they've got then I am definitely out.

While I'm not keen on the looks of the GT86 and the interior looks like someone's won a shopping cart trip round halfords, it has been praised for its driver appeal, something the Z4 hasn't. Maybe those under pinnings will change that?

I'm calling that as a Z4 photoshopped. http://www.cartype.com/pics/10217/full/bmw_z4_roadster_13_06.jpg

There was talk of a new Supra from the BMW/Toyota JV based on the 6-series platform.

The bulk of the Supra's cult success came from the engine and it's potential for serious tuning. If they put the N54 engine in there it will be an instant success! People already pushing then engine to 700+.

I think it looks spectacular - but don't know "jack" about the oily bits or the link with Toyota ? Sorry

Whilst it's not the most powerful the GT86 has consistently been praised as a fantastic driver's car. If Toyota can inject that magic, and BMW handle the engine then I could see it being an exciting partnership.
