That looks really nice... though gives off the impression that it's just bigger for the sake of being bigger? Means either a bigger engine is needed or it's just going to be another slow lumbering roadster.
 
"Under the hood, it will feature a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with three power stages: 190 hp, 245 hp and 270 hp. The engine will be matted to a ZF 8-speed automatic or six-speed manual."

Nor me, looks a bit fat.

Give the damn thing a "waist" and it would look much better. Also the front bumpers of the M3/4 look 100x better than the Z5.

Shame as well, if they'd have taken the weight saving approach they took on the M3/4 on the E89, they could have a winner. :(
 
Article tells you all you need to know...

The BMW Z5 will feature a more radical front-mid-engine bias. Lightweight materials will be used across the Z4 and the target weight is 3300 lbs.
 
Surely you'd just buy the 6 series vert? This is were i think BMW are getting it wrong. The e85/6 was a small two seater sports car, a roadster and a gte, both based on the successful two seater ethos along the lines of the original British two seater. The e89 is sort of wrong in my eyes, a bit too big with out the practicality for a sportster of its size or the wow factor. The new z4, when it pops up will have alot of expectations.

Out of interest does any one know the sales ratio between the e89 and the Boxster as a bench mark to my theory? (this is when it gets blown out of the water)
 
i quite like it as it looks like a facelift of the e89. also the blue colour looks nice too

im glad they will have something to replace the z4 with
 
Couldn't open the link for some reason. Found another that said it was going to lose the hard roof in favour of a soft one, which is a shame.
 
Think it looks like an absolute dog and someone without much imagination has made it, just a few different parts of newer BMW merged into a "Z5"

M3 lights and intakes and side repeater stuck on an elongated E89 nose and wheelbase awful.

If BMW have learnt anything from the E89, the recipe is wrong and this optimises everything that is wrong with the E89 and the design is just plain awful. The one saving grace f the E89 is the fact its a good looking car and this has ruined it!!!!

If they make this I predict it sells even worse than the current E89.

The rear view looks like a different car the body is all E89 with a mix of monstrosity 6/4 series lights? Shocking.

If you want to know where BMW are heading with the Z4 look at the Zegato.
 
What a shame - back end looks like the front of a transformer. . . .

Quite like the low screen and rear wheel arches of the first photo but the comments about a light roadster on the lines of a British Sports car makes sense to me so I'll stick with the E85 (for now). Also agree that it needs a waist (know how that feels. . . :cry: )

That's just a Z4 some hobbyist has bastardised the back of, not an official BMW render.
