Hi New to this forum , I am in the market for a cheap ish z4 around £3k maybe would I be able to get anything at that sort of cost ? Anybody selling anything ? I am in South Yorkshire but willing to travel a bit
Advise welcomed , thanks again

Hey there! Good choice…

Not sure what spec / engine you’re looking for but my 2.5 is for sale a few posts down (here if you want to take a look: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=134137) and might fit the bill. It needs a small bit of work by the new owner if to be sold at the £3.5k advertised, otherwise I’ll get it sorted and sell in Spring.

I’d imagine at the £3k end of the market you’ll have more 2l options to choose from than the 6 cylinder cars though it’s certainly possible to find them (and they’re arguably well worth the few hundred extra).

Best of luck and shout if you’d like any more details on my car.

Thanks a lot for the reply , I have checked out your listing and it looks good for the price to be fair and the minor issues are nothing that would put me off
It’s a pity that it’s so far away from me , a 400 mile round trip really makes it unrealistic with the cost of getting there and transportation for the car back otherwise i would have definitely considered it .
On that basis I think it’s a no go unfortunately, but thanks again and good luck with your sale .

So you want a £3k E85 within 30 miles of Sheffield?
Good luck finding one!

I know it’s asking a lot definitely, I never mentioned 30 miles to be fair I did say willing to travel but I just think 400 miles a touch too far when you can’t drive the car back as well
Have to up the budget

Why cant you drive the car back - go with a mate and insure the thing while there if its the one - its what I always do

No problem at all! Understand your reluctance given that it’s a fair old trip for you.

If it helps, the car is totally drivable for a return journey, it would simply need to be taxed. The leak from the valve cover gasket shouldn’t make for any major issues on a trundle up the motorway, but of course, does get a bit smoky if driven with any vigour.

Otherwise, it’s booked in for the VCG to be replaced on the 23rd this month so if you’re happy waiting a couple of weeks and spending a bit more, it’ll be good to go after then.

Be prepared to travel for the right car ! Don't let a few miles put you off. Treat it like a Mini Break.
I flew Newcastle to Bristol for my first Z4 and certainly enjoyed the drive home. Overnight in a Premier Inn etc, a couple of drinks and a breakfast next morning!

I would happily do the same again

If you are driving it back but don't want to bother with insurance at the side of the road check out CUVVA, download and set up the app before you leave, then once you've decided to buy you can insure from 1 hour to however many you need, it's a great tool which I have used lots of the past few years.

Good luck hunting mate, I am in a similar situation!

Just wasting peoples time most likely.

Repair bills and running costs aren't cheap on these so looking for a bargain basement one and not willing to pay to travel you have to think he should be looking at a toyota yaris or honda civic instead.

Lot of tyre kickers out there.

Great opinion formed of a new member thanks a lot 😡
This thread can now be closed though , as I have sorted a car , please see my intro in new members and I look forward to your second opinion of me 😄

Thanks to all those who had genuine offers
I am now an official Z4 owner

I agree. Wading in with such a derogatory statement does nothing to welcome new members. Not everyone can afford the time and expense to churn around the countryside looking at cars.
There is no harm at all in asking.
I'm glad you're sorted now and hope you find the forum a more welcoming and useful place to be from now on.

Don’t let a few silly comments put you off what is generally a really good forum, unfortunately people like to share their opinion when it adds nothing but negativity! I have seen your car on the newbie forum it looks like you found a good one 👍

I would ignore those negative posters…the track record of some of them are not good…

I could say you were done as one if my friends bought a 2 litre MOT failure for £200

Enjoy the car, enjoy the forum.

The E85 sub group is particularly active and helpful.

Welcome

Oi! Who are you calling a 'sub' group?
Flippin' high and mighty E89 owners! :poke: :D

Ah yes the Adolf Hitler / Vladamin Putin ‘sub group’….

I was of course referring to the mathematical sorting order of the forum where even the best Z4 ever made ie the E89 is a subgroup :tumbleweed:

I’ve been trolling all sorts of adverts looking at options to get back into one as a toy, keep an eye out on market place as I have seen some come up on there. Spotted a 2005 3.0 in silver for less than 3K.

Edit: based in Aldershot if your looking
