Z4Roadster AUDIO SET UP

Hi all,

I'm getting fed up with the standard audio setup and with having the Toupee off more often now , the time has come.

Doing some research through the forum, I have a number of different solutions:

1. Just upgrade the components with Pioneer: TS-G171C - 17cm components for the fronts and VIBE-LITEAIR4-components for the rear ( however the standard speakers are apparently good enough , there just under powered through the standard unit , so I think getting better speakers with the standard head unit will not give me much better sound? amping them would be good but on a standard head unit there's no output? cost £100.00

2. A sub and amp in the boot, stick with the standard head unit and take the base out of the standard components- ( can you do that ?) so you get better sound from them. cost £300.00

3. change the lot , new head unit , sub, amp , plus wiring and adapters , so I still maintain the steering wheel controls, including fitting £600.00

Basically I want to keep it OEM but have a better sound, also I thought about using the storage bins , but it seems like a lot of hassle to get some speakers in them.

Hmmm what to do ??? :? :?

Option 3.

Depending on which version you have, changing only a few components to get improvement is difficult. The system is tightly integrated, I don't think the digital output from the head unit is compatible with anything after market. The speakers have weird impedances and physical dimensions and non-standard cross overs. Research thoroughly before doing partial upgrades!
