Z4R to Z4C

If you still have hair on your head you must drive a roadster, the coupe can wait 'til you're bald or shaving your head to hide the fact that you're getting there.

We've either had or still have 6 BMW's, all drop tops..... I'm just not old (bald) enough to drive a coupe yet.... :poke: :poke:

But if someone offered me an ///MCoupe I'd consider wearing a skullcap so I could fit in...

More like if you wear a bra and large underwear once every month you must drive a roadster haha :P

And if you don't drive an M then you're just a very feminine man? :fuelfire:

Why do coupe owners jump at every oppurtunity to defend themselves and say coupe better than roadster? :? :? :?

Oh I think that's people in glass houses throwing stones ! I'd say we are equally as bad as each other !

Careful now, the grey one in the garage is the girlfriends, she won't take that lightly and she's 5'10 with a reach like Muhammed Ali.

 :poke: :poke:

"where's my skullcap, I need to get the E89 out"  (it's a coupe after all )

I can't actually recall seeing a Z4 Coupe around here, I've seen a couple of Z3 Mcoupes but no Z4's. I guess the sun shines too much here in the summer.... :D :D

As for being effeminate if I'm not in an M.... I had one, an M3 and now I have 385HP in my Z4 so I don't really need one, now do I? :driving: :driving:

Brilliant - that made my laugh out loud!
Same here, genunine LOL at that comment gookah

Personally I can see why some folk would change from a roadster to a coupe. My wife, for one, if she got her way my roadster roof would probably never be down. And if I didn't have the luxury of a garage I'd feel happier having a metal roof rather than fabric. I sort of do actually hanker after a Z4M Coupe, but that's just based on all the hype and it being a future classic etc. In all honesty I doubt I'd notice any difference between how a coupe and a roadster handle, although without actually having been or driven a Coupe I really can't substantiate that...

Hi, thinking strongly of upgrading from a 2003 3.0l Roadster to a 2007 Coupe...

Has anyone ever changed from a Z4 roadster to a Coupe and regretted it... and if so why... thanks in advance

Good luck with the change. I like the Coupe, but LOVE the roadster.

2003 to a 2007 ?

Hope you don't regret it when you hear the tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap of the N52.... :fuelfire:

What's wrong with upgrading to a 2007

Also, what is tap tap tap tap tap tap of the N52

I drove a coupe and roadster back to back. I'm struggling to see the appeal of the coupe tbh.

Only reason my last car was a coupe was as I convinced myself I needed the bigger boot and the 2+2 seats.

The coupe boot isn't huge and you still only get two seats. Tbh sitting in the roadster, it feels the same with the roof up. I think you either have to not like putting the roof down, or REALLY love the coupe looks to be willing to go without that openair feeling.

I went from a 2005 2.5se Roadster to a 2009 3.0 si Coupe, which I did because I decided I wanted another Z4 (couldn't find anything else like it either as Roadster or Coupe) and as I was upgrading to a newer faster version thought that it being a coupe would be another thing to differentiate it from my last purchase. I was afraid otherwise it would be too similar. Also it does look bloody gorgious.

Don't think I ever added my 2 cents to the coupe vs. roadster common discussion!

The coupe has a few advantages over the roadster, that made me choose it, instead of a 3.0si roadster:

- slightly lower insurance (group 18 vs. 19, if I remember correctly)

- better looks (subjective)

- fixed roof better if the car is not parked in a garage

- bigger boot (not just the difference in the measurements announced, but the possibility of piling things up in a long trip

- rarer

- bragging rights on the exclusivity and higher chassis stiffness :poke:

On the other hand, it has the obvious disadvantage of not allowing to drive with the roof off. For me this was not a deal breaker (OH tends to ask me to close the windows frequently, so I imagine what it would be like with a convertible), and as the car was to be parked on the street, the choice was easy.

Oh yeah I can see that conversation in the pub:

You: Hi sexy can I buy you a drink.
Her: Sure.
You: My Z4 coupe has 32,000nm/degree torsional stiffness.
Her: OK, bye
