Z4MR Xenon Headlights

Car back - would you believe it though that after replacing the entire headlight unit the garage could not be arsed to reset the level of the headlight so it's now pointing at the moon! FFS.

Is it best to just park up next to a wall with headlights on and adjust the wonky one to sit in line with the other..?

£1200 wow :o For that i'd take it back to the garage and get them to adjust it, doughnuts :headbang:

Fraid so, entire new light cluster, ballast and labour charge. Unfortunately the garage is a 30 minutes drive from my house and I just don't have the time with work to get out there.

Fuming :headbang:

So how does one prevent this water issue from happening in the first place?

I'm gonna be too scared to ever wash my car again.

I've mentioned how to seal the ballast above, that's the most important part, if your headlights fog up regularly then your ballasts are in high risk. Seal the ballasts as I've mentioned above, then to help prevent the headlights steaming up in the first place, replace the rear access hatch or seal it up with silicone or similar. I had a more severe version happen to my headlight after using a certain moisture absorber that ate the wiring plug and flooded the headlight with rusty water.
The ballast was saved as I'd previously sealed it, I opened the headlight, cleaned it up and replaced the wiring plug. Cost me nothing and is as good as new. Really didn't take much time, if something like this happens please don't let the dealers rip you off!!

Small update...the entire xenon unit had flooded, the ballast fried and all wiring inside was corroded and shorted out. Result - one entirely new xenon headlight assembly and ballast plus labour - £1200!

:-(

They really are a bunch of robbing barstewards, makes my blood boil. Especially when this problem was down to their poor design/below standard materials which caused this problem in the first place :/
