Z4MR RTAB Replacement

Hi all,

Can anyone point me at instructions for replacing the RTAB bushes? I've opted for OE bushes and turner limiters but can't find any instructions on torque or preloading. I've read somewhere about using a tool to set the angle 8mm above the hub centre, but I'm not exactly sure what this means.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

I cant answer your questions but they are a pain to do and if you are planing to do they yourself get the bushing tool. Or ask someone on hear very nicely if you can borrow theirs.
Just make sure you mark the bracket and the body of the car clearly so you can line that back up on when you put it back together.

I have some rear ARB bushes for sale if you want them too!!http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=67766&p=997856#p997856 Shameful plug sorry!!!

Hi there,

The torque setting for each of the three bolts that secure the console to the car's body is 77 NM. The torque for the bolt that secures the console to the trailing arm is 100 Nm.

I used the info from the photos in the link below as a guide on how to do the job:

I highly recommend buying or borrowing an RTAB removal tool. I bought one of these (you're welcome to borrow it if you live near Carlisle :) ):

It worked really well when removing the OE RTABs. I replaced mine with Rogue Engineering poly bushes. The tool was a great help in inserting these, but I can't comment on how well it would have worked when inserting new OE bushes.

I saw a tip somewhere recently where a chap used a big jubilee clip to compress the OE bush before partially inserting it in the trailing arm. Seemed to help in getting it started and lined up properly.

It's an enjoyable DIY and the results are well worth the effort.

Good luck
