Z4MR prices?

Yea same here, when I bought my MR it looked like it had been dried with steel wool and the alloys were literally flaking to pieces, there was huge sections of alloy surface just peeling off, the interior leather was tired and slightly faded in places, interior plastic was heavily worn on due to people storing things like keys under the handbrake whilst using the car, steering wheel excessively worn from jewellery etc, engine bay had never been cleaned, ever. A couple of weeks later, a few hundred quid later, and it was one of the best looking 10 year old cars out there, it was now immaculate in the context of being a 10 year old car, and I still struggled to sell it for a decent price!

When I advertised it, I know most people mean well but I had to make it clear in the advert that I'd turn away any body expecting a time capsule from 2006, no matter how much you look after a car they do get stone chips/micro scratches and signs of use. It's unreasonable to expect a seller to spend a fortune restoring a 10 year old car to 'nearly new' to satisfy the unreasonable expectations of someone who might not even buy it.
 
First dry weekend will be spent with the obligatory wash and wax, thats a given. :thumbsup:

How did you restore the plastic / steering wheel?

I have an e46 with 135k miles on the clock, if i see a car in similar condition i will be happy.
 
They were both restored by a professional, the plastic was smoothed and dyed back to the original colour and so was the steering wheel, they essentially paint a new dye on which is colour matched to the original colour, and afterwards its back to looking brand new. I'd rather a professional does it as I'm happy to pay for a proper job!

So so true , the number of people who expect seats to look factory fresh with no wear creases :( or totally unmarked steering wheels :( & a front end that has no chips :roll: they should either buy a new car or be realistic in their expectations of a used vehicle sometimes over 10yrs old
With regard your own ///M car :? i watched it closely in the marketplace & whilst the initial ask may have been a touch optimistic i felt the the price towards the end was looking too cheap
In all honestly you were unfortunate with the timing of your sale imo
Come next spring the car may well have dealt you another £1500 :wink:
