Cheers! Its the first time I have had chance to clean the car properly and take a few snaps. I had a look at your flikr feed there are some awesome pics and trips on there! You must be a keen photographer yourself? Well its my first year on here only been a member 3 months or so, so looking forward to getting to some of the meets this year! Do you recommend the Pilots over the Sessantas? I have to boot my CSLs in the coming weeks and am torn between the two.

It does take a lot of patients, but if you do it right and protect it, should be easier to keep looking clean! Its def worth it too, when I got the car I was disappointed with the lack of sheen from the paintwork compared to my old 3 which was carbon black. Since I have been desperate to polish and wax it, love the car when its so shiny!

It took three days because it gets dark at 4pm, it was raining so no point and my garage has no electric in it.. lol!

You will not regret the Pilot Super Sports. Worth every penny. I've not driven a Sessanta, but I would imagine they'd struggle to perform as well as the Pilots. The old Pilot Sport 2s were amazing, but the new Super Sports are close in terms of grip to the old Pilot Sport Cups, but with better wet performance and longer life! You won't buy anything else once you've tried them (if you can stomach the cost of course).
I dabble in photography here and there, but only for fun. I rarely take a lot of shots on my SLR these days though - its just easier to take the cheap and cheerful IXUS everywhere.

Ye I have Pilots on the car atm and I have to say I cant fault them. I was asking because a lot of people say the Vreds arnt too bad they are about £4-500 cheaper than the pilots which is a fair amount to swallow lol! But tyres are the most important thing so worth the investment. Well for dabbling they look pretty sweet!

Well I did a dual honours degree at Uni Graphic Design & Photography and work at a newspaper as a graphic designer and advertising photographer. But don't usually get the time to go out and shoot what I want, especialy at this time of year as its dark early! But was nice to get out and shoot a few pics. They are ok, I didnt really spend too much time on them because I only had a few hours in the Car park before it closed and light issues.... But I have some rig pictures that im still processing, they look amazing but rig shots are really alot of work because fo the amount of photoshopping needed to remove the rigs etc.
But ye my kit is pretty old tbh. I dont really bother with the camera, doesn't really matter atm what camera you have its the glass you put in front of it as long as it has 10mp+. Plus all the new APC sensor sized cameras like the 7D have large pixel densities (more pixels on the same sensor size), so the ISO performance is not as good as the older generation cameras but the performance is better like FPS. So I still haven't found the camera to replace my trusty 40D with. I dont print bigger than A2 generally so it does the job great and at 6.5fps its still a great camera. I would like a 5D mkII but the focusing is well sub par every other canon camera on the market the basic models like the 600D have better focusing systems. The image quality of the 7D isnt good enough for me to drop £1000 on one would rather have another lens. Hopefully when they bring the 5D MIII or the 7D mark II these isues will be fixed for it to be worth upgrading to.
But I may go for a 1Ds with a 7D Mk II combo next, I have a big wod of cash waiting to drop on a new camera as ive had mine for 4 years now, but I cant fault it so will continue to use it. Bit more detail would be nice but as you can see from the pics they look great in terms of quality so... I digress...
Anyway so my kit is EF-s based. Most of the things I shoot benefit from the 1.6x crop factor of the APC format. I do a lot of motorsport and wildlife photography. So a 400mm lens on my camera gives me the equivalent of 640mm then adding a 1.4x extender im hitting 900mm and with a 2x extender nearly 1300mm (gives a great scope i have from 10mm to 1300, obviously quality deteriorates a bit with 1.4x and 2x extenders but its worth it for the reach 1300mm is almost a mile of reach) . I also shoot advertising photography for my job but it is newsprint so the quality is not as important as it would be for glossy mags. But I also shoot alot of weddings which is why I would like a 5D. But a 5D would be useless for motorsport, I need a dual camera set up like I said above but will get there eventually when i have more time lol!.
The shots were made using my 40D with a 17-55mm 2.8 IS. The best lens available for the APC format basically an L lens without the weather sealing. I shoot everything in RAW then process using Lightroom then do more stylised effects using photoshop. Thats about it really!
My kit consists of:
40D + bat grip
28mm F1.8
50mm F1.4
17-55mm F2.8 IS
10-22mm
100mm 2.8 L IS macro
70-200mm L F2.8 IS mark II + 2x extender
400mm L 2.8
Like I said glass... think every lens was over £700, think the camera was only £700 lol The glass is far more important than the camera. Hope that clears a few things up for you!

Sounds like you have a good depth of knowledge. I only shoot with a 400D but have the following lenses
Canon 60mm macro f2.8
Sigma 10-20mm
Sigma 70-200 f2.8
Canon 17-40L
Speed light 430 ex ii
I was more interested in the pictures you have taken. Was it with a single shot or is there some blending? Ate use using flash or just the car park lights? The lighting looks very good!

Nice kit! I used to like the sigma lenses when I started off, but the quality was hit and miss with production, sometimes you can get really sharp lenses other times they can be very very soft! I found that trying to get a sharp one was hard work so moved to Canon exclusively for my lenses. Look of the draw I suppose! Because the 40D doesn't support micro adjust I tested a lot of the same lenses to make sure I got the sharpest one I could. The tolerances are quite small but large enough to be soft at the edges. Something to look for when buying them anyway.
Anyway all the shots are single exposures. Worth getting it right first time, multiple exposures just makes post processing more time consuming. If you use RAW you can bring back a lot of detail if you get the exposure wrong, but they record all the detail, no compression, so you can bring back detail without degrading the image. But when shooting with a tripod and you have some time its not hard to get the exposure spot on. I used a little flash to bring out the wheels on some of the shots, Had my 580ex wirelessly connected with a huge diffuser at its lowest strength to bring out some detail in the front wheel. They are so dark it needed it, but flash is hard to use on vehicles unless you have huge diffusers attached to them. I use a Gary Fong Light Sphere which is fantastic for portraits and general shooting, but with a car you really need two strobes/flashes working from either side with a studio diffuser so the light is not as direct and harsh but I couldn't be bothered to bring my portable studio lights or set them up. So the light is just the light from the car park lights, but I was very careful with them, very specific in where the light was coming from and placed the car accordingly. Obviously you cant help but get some light where you dont want because the car park has so many, but it is also set up in a linear fashion so if you place the car in the right place you can control it.
One thing I did do was shoot longer exposures, it softens the light a touch. Had the camera attached to my tripod (manfrotto 190xprob) and was shooting at around 1/2 to a second exposures.
I have about 6 more shots that I need to finish up but when I do I will get them up!
