Thought that I would show you some pictures I took whilst on holiday at the Nurnburg Ring last year.

So wanted to take home and borrow some parts for my Z4MC............

Pretty smashed in; must have hit the bales at a fair old rate. Reckon you'd have had a job refurbing those wheels for your coupe though.
 
Too much front camber and a low pressure in the rear tyre looks like the problem. Poor handling set up that way :driving:

I wonder what the cost was, the car, lack if insurance, the Armco, track time....

I'm guessing by the closed exit gate behind the car, that it wasn't a TF day, plus the car would have been recovered elsewhere.

Car costs high, unlikely to be any armco/track time costs, nor any insurance issues.
 
Ouch......! Last time I went to the Ring took my eldest son. It's OK when your doing the driving but when he was behind the wheel.......and I was in the passenger seat :cry:

The event was the VLN which was ending that day and then TF from 1700...Yip eh.

As you mentioned Lance, Armco and track clossure costs would not have come into play as it was a organised event/race.Just an expensive car/team cost to re-build and off course drivers pride to mend.....

don't let it put you off, this is a race car crashing during a race.....it happens a lot.

Driving/riding the Ring really isn't as daunting as the drama queens make it out to be. It's a great experience and fantastic to drive. Sure people crash there and people get crashed into there, but this happens on the road too.

You just need to minimise the risks, don't drive it like a kn0b, you wouldn't drive as fast as you could down an unknown bit of road, why do it there?

Drive it for your first few laps when it's quieter, perhaps a Wednesday or Thursday, it makes a hell of a difference and is far far less intimidating.

Please dont let the pictures put you off the ring as it is the best experience i have had in years and i have been in the Army for 20 years!!! It relly is a must do if you are a petrol head.
Its not just the track but the whole enviroment. To sit in a far with a beer watching your dream cars parked up and driving past is just great.

The 'Ring is great, but I'm seeing less and less mid-week days and/or evening sessions open to the public, which means it ends up being a mad weekend rush. I tend to drive it like a one way country road, where you know there's trees or walls willing to catch you out at every opportunity - has stood me in good stead so far, and I'm the only one of our small group who hasn't spun at 'Krünnchen' or 'Ex-Mühle'.

I usually drive over on Thursday evening (cheaper ferry than the Friday) and return Monday afternoon, and make a long weekend out of it.

I used to use to go quite often in the M5 (with a small group of other M5 owners), and would like to go again in the Z4.

We usually do 4-6 laps first thing in the morning (between 8am & 9am), before the 'daytrippers' arrive, and then another set in the evening, which means we tend to miss the accidents. Although one time there was a bad incident (Porsche GT3 had a leak and dropped coolant along about half the track, and denied it was him because it was air-cooled - it's not) just as we finished our fist lap at 8:15 and we didn't get back on until 1:30pm, and then it was closed for the rest of the day by 3pm.

One of might mates is a right liability, as he doesn't watch out for cars coming up behind and will only see them at the last minute - which of course makes him panic. He also tries to 'straight line' everything, claiming he's using the racing line, while we're all over the back of him trying to get past :thumbsdown:
