Z4MC at KDS for a detail+

My Sapphire black/Imola coupe is currently at KDS in Gillingham, Kent for the following work:

Front bumper and side skirts respray
'Gold' paint correction package, which includes interior and engine bay.
Caliper strip and repaint in black
Hubs repainted silver
Wheels stripped and repainted silver by Lepsons (who are in the opposite unit).

It's been there for a week now, and I expect it back sometime next week. I have only dropped by once early this week but the car was already up on a lift with wheels, bumper and skirts off. I haven't got any pics as yet, but am hoping that Kelly and the KDS crew will take some before and afters that I can post up here when it's done.

Going on their previous work that I have seen, reputation and gallery pics I am really looking forward to the results, and praying that it stops bl**dy raining down south - even if only for a few days - so I can enjoy it before it gets covered in c**p again! :)

It's in good company at the moment, sharing garage space at KDS with an Enzo 8)

Ooohh their work is incredible. Really looking forward to seeing the photos. I may well drop you a PM because there is quite a lot on that list that I'd like to do to mine shortly so would be interested in ball park pricing.

Very cool - I live near Gillingham and I have been toying with bumper / bonnet / skits respray - do you mind sharing what you're paying for the bumper and skirts ? Cheers

Yes no probs OG, drop me a PM.

Bing, I don't have the precise figure in front of me for the bumper and skirts repaint although IIRC it was around £450. This, however, was a discounted price (not sure by how much, and offered by Kelly - i wasn't expecting it) as I am having the detail done at the same time. Either way I think that's very good in comparison to other bodywork on different vehicles I've had done elsewhere, especially as I know the finished result will be so good.

I think you're Maidstone based as well (?). I would drop in and have a chat with them sometime. They are all very friendly and happy to take the time to talk the job through thoroughly, and their pricing seems very fair for the hours involved and the quality.

Thanks sutts - I am in Maidstone... Did I see you filling up at Morrison's on the Sutton Road about a month ago ? Ridiculous question I know, but if you're here too I think I have seen you about a couple of times

I'll go have a chat when I've some readies, and if I can slide it past SWMBO

Hmm that wouldn't have been me, sometimes do the food shop at that Morrisons but petrol is always Shell V-power :driving:
Lucky we are surrounded with Shell stations in Maidstone, as I do tend to chew through it!

Just experimenting with the photobucket IPad app. Here is the single pic I took on my phone when I dropped in the other day, sorry for the quality.

Sutts,

PM sent!

Is that an AC Schnitzer back box ? Lovely sound on those. Nice to see the Enzo in the background too!

Yep, ACS back boxes. They were apparently dealer fitted from new, and do sound brilliant. Not OTT but very purposeful, and with a full on scream at 7k rpm! Think they are made for ACS by Remus.

Also PM replied to!

I just dropped into KDS on my way past to see how things were going. The MC is coming on nicely - repainted bumper and skirts refitted and looking good, calipers and hubs painted and the refurbished wheels by Lepsons have been refitted and look fantastic. It might be my imagination but even the new wheel balancing weights look like they have been polished :o

It's now waiting for the actual detailing part to begin! I did wonder about taking a few pics but decided to wait until it was all finished and outside in the light.

I saw your car yesterday as I was bringing mine for a simple wash. It looks
amazing ! Now I am tempted to leave mine for a detail too...

Back boxes look the same as my Remus back boxes, just with different tips. If they are, I completely agree with how you described the sound. I also love the sound at around 4,000 rpm especially in third...

Looking forward to seeing the pics after they've finished. I'd like to show mine a little detailing love too one day...

Thanks Fern, Kelly mentioned that another Z had been in yesterday when I picked it up.
Needless to say the car looks amazing - the resprayed bumper and skirts are silky smooth and the refurbed wheels look better than new over the repainted hubs and calipers. The depth of shine on the paintwork is unbelievable and Kelly gave me some good tips (and a couple of products) to keep it that way.
Right on cue the weather dried up so I've already been out for a couple of blasts to listen to that exhaust and had a bit of fun with a Caterham on a local bypass..
I will upload some more pics later when I have more time, but here's a couple from my phone to give an idea.
