Z4M warranty

Hi Guys,

I'm currently in the market for a z4m coupe and just trying to find out some information about the warranty. As long as the car has been fully serviced and is in good condition I'm not to fussy about about the milage, but my question is does the bmw warranty only cover cars under a certain milage?. Could I buy a car and run it for 200k miles and will be keep under warranty as long as I pay for the extended warranty or will they not allow cars over 80k for example to be covered.

My thinking is I would hate to buy a car at 50k only to not have it covered a few years down the line.

Many thanks in advance for your help

If you're looking for a Carbon Black Coupe with CSL's and 36K miles, March 2007 I could be tempted to sell mine. I let the warranty lapse as it's a rip off so maybe not interested.

You can re-instate the warranty as long as it has been maintained by BMW.

Depending on how my job search goes, mine might be available soon (probably June).
  • individual ruby black with individual extended champagne leather
  • full BMWSH (plus 6-7k mile interim oil services done by myself)
  • new engine at 22/23k miles (warranty claim), not needed any emissions sensors or springs like so many on here though
  • most boxes ticked on the options list including privacy glass, prof nav, Logic 7 hifi, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, auto-wipers, auto-lights, fire extinguisher, xenons, etc.
  • 32k miles
  • registered December 2006 (56 plate)
  • extended BMW warranty (the full fat £1000, no excess one) until December
  • taxed to December
  • mot'd to December
  • standard Z4M wheels & Continental tyres (not the CSLs shown in my signature) with 4mm-6mm all round (at the moment)
  • Paintshield protection film fitted on front end (bumper, front spoiler, mirrors, first 1/3 of bonnet & wings) which is going to be removed for it to get a good polish & wax before selling as the film doesn't scrub up as well as the paint
  • it was never meant to be, nor ever was a garage queen, and I've done 23,000 miles on it since I bought it in November 2008 (would have been more, but lack of work has cut down my commuting mileage)
  • a few pin-pricks on some parts of the body that will disappear when it's detailed next
  • never been through a machine car wash, and other than the one time it was at the dealers, only ever been cleaned by me or the detailer
Don't know how much I'd want/accept for it yet though - but I might be open to a cheeky offer if I'm desperate :(
More/bigger pictures available on my website.

Sad news Tony :( I know you've mentioned work hasn't been abundant this last year. Hope something turns up and you can keep it.

Well, I've already managed to keep it for 5 months with almost no work, but the lack of work from last year compounded by a similar pattern (i.e. lots of promised of work, but very little materialising) this year means it's not looking good. If I have to go into the 'employed' ranks then I'll be looking at a heavy pay cut - thus I'm looking at ways to reduce my outgoings and this is one of them.

The bad news is I've...
  • cancelled trips to the 'Ring (for driving and for marshalling at the 24hr)
  • cancelled my booking for BMW driver training at the 'Ring that I booked last year
  • delayed the purchase of a new business computer (but no work means I don't need a new computer)
  • cut down on the number of marshalling weekends I do
  • cut down on my track day attendance (only did 1.5 last year, and not done any this year, even though there was a free marshal's one in January at Oulton)
  • cut down on days/nights out & short trips to friends abroad & in other parts of the country (especially when you're spending £100 on petrol alone to visit them)
  • stopped buying expensive wine (but have found some quite palatable cheaper options)
The good news is I'll probably be owed some tax back as I've already paid this year's on account and have mainly done PAYE stuff through agencies.
