I was just going by what Ive read in car reviews etc and fully accept that modern turbos are probably pretty good
I'd go for a Turbo'd car every time. The kick they give when the boost kicks in and the sound they make :evil: I do miss that

I get told to 'watch my neck' often enough as it is without the turbo
Then I think I quick car with a Turbo is not for you.....but I'll glady take one
The new twin turbo is pretty good at getting rid of lag. It is the same principle as the engine in the 535d (even though this is a diesel). Basically there is a smaller turbo that gets spinning quickly and pulls you through to the boost of the bigger turbo. This is my understanding anyway.
To get back to the primary point of this post - I think I have made my mind up about what I am going to do. Going to look at a car tomorrow morning and will let you know what I am planning on doing after I have seen it. May be a little bit of a suprise for you all!

I've driven my mates 335i and the engine is incredible. No turbo lag and the power just keeps on coming. Rumour somewhere that BMW will offer an 'M' sporting pack for the new Z4 35i that will include an upgrade to 340 BHP+.
However, my mate isn't entirely in love with the engine, there are a lot of rattles and noises which he's complained to the dealer about several times and so far it's the 'they all do that sir' answer. Buying new this won't be an issue but buying one at three years old then longevity of the engine would worry me.

Well I have had a test drive in the new 35i this morning and was pretty impressed. I am seriously starting to consider the fact that at the moment for me it will be enough.
I know a lot of you don't like it as much as the previous shape Z4 but having never owned one, I am looking at it as a completely new car and in that respect I think it's not bad at all. I think now that this is where my money will be going and am going to be taking a trip to the Honda garage later on today (as they assured me that when I came to get rid of the S2000 they would buy back for more than anybody else could offer - we will see!).

A good thing about the M is that you will be buying an almost bulletproof engine! It's been around a while so should have most problems ironed out.
Even if I was interested in buying the new Z4 I would probably give it at least 2 years on a new model to iron out problems. Be interesting to see how that roof lasts also!
I bought the BMW MINI in it's first year of production and it had that many faults on it that BMW took it back after 7 months and built me a new one for free!!

Interestingly enough, back to the S2000 for a second, I took a trip down to unnamed Honda dealership where the car was purchased from and they have offered me about 3K less than I paid for it. Considering the car is now 2 years old and has 15K on it, I don't think thats a bad price at all.
It really suprised me as I would have thought dealers wouldn't have wanted to be buying in too much used stock given the current climate. The car is absolutely showroom condition - always garaged, and has every possible option on it. Could this have been the reason they were so keen to take the car from me? Just interested in how they plan to make a profit from it!
