I'm on my 3rd set of MPSS on the TT RS, I use M Pilot Alpines 4 in the winter. If you think MPSS are ok in the wet cold then you don't know what ok is

My Z4M Still has the Conti's on it, I will be swapping them to MPSS (or the MPS4s if they get round to making the right size). My Roadster will never see the cold or wet ...

Okay means okay...not great, good, stunning, wonderful, etc.

I've used mine as a daily driver for 8 years, and this includes winter and sub-zero (air temperature) conditions on road & track (nurburgring) and they're fine (don't forget that the tyre temp will rapidly exceed zero).

However, in standing water, snow or ice, strangely this max performance summer tyre is not as good as a proper winter tyre

My 115bhp Alfa on Michelin Cross-Climates is faster in the snow than my Z4MC on SuperSports.

Plus they're MUCH better in ALL conditions than the standard fit Continental SportContact M3 :thumbsdown:

Have had plenty of fun in wet conditions with Supersports...and I'm not dead yet...so they must be 'okay'.

I am needing to replace my rubber, I've got Goodyear F1s on my other car and have found them brilliant so leaning that way (must be better than the Contis!). I accidently priced up a set of 225/40/18 fronts, will these be ok or am I best to change the order? I was pricing up rears at the same time and must have forgotten to change the '40' back to '45.

Any thoughts appreciated.

If anyone can confirm the OEM size that would be great, I've got one tyre website saying they should be 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 on the rear?

Yeah they're the wrong size unfortunately. You want a 225/45 r18 front 255/40 r18 rear for a Z4M.
I have an almost unused set of Michelin Pilot Supersport in these sizes if that's of any help, done a couple of hundred miles, I'd be happy with £400. Sounds like you need to return yours though and get the correct size :|

The original Contis have now been upgraded twice ( Cs5 Cs6 ) , i really like the 5s , always found them grippy (wet & dry) & quiet with decent rim protection too
Id also consider the Vred Vorti , in my experience as close to Michelin in performance as you will get with a good lump less paid out

More than than twice I think, as Conti M3 were based on SportContact 2, so you have SC3, SC5, SC5P, & SC6 since (don't know why they skipped SC4).
