Z4M Steering Wheel - Can it be used on an Auto?

Hi all

Looking for some advice. I have a Z4 Coupe SE Auto (with paddles), and wanted to replace the steering wheel with the M Sport version (assuming thats the correct name for it, basically the one that comes fitted in the Sport Model of the Coupe)

Obviously the Z4M never came in an auto, with paddles, so the question is is there any reason why the wheel wouldnt fit my car ? I assume the paddles are bolted into existing holes in the rear of the wheel ? Surely BMW didnt cast a different underlying frame for the wheel for the Z4M and the Z4 Coupe Sport ?

Part numbers do look different, so it has me thinking maybe it wont take the paddles. I could lose the paddles, but would rather not !! ;-)

Thanks in advance
Kam

You could simply have your steering wheel retrimmed for £150 or so.

You can request its thickened with padding so its as thick as the M sport wheel.

much better solution

I believe it's possible and has been done before. Check the how to section.

I did that before posting ! I could have missed an obvious post, but after reading pages and pages, and having several other posters ask the same question, there was never an answer provided...

Would a retrimmed wheel ever look and feel like the M wheel though ? I still remember a friend who spent a lot retrimming a pair of Honda S2000 seats for his Civic Type R, and they looked... like someone had retrimmed them !!! Something about the factory finish which is hard to match... Have you had this done, and if so, can you share some pics?

Thanks
