Z4M steering question

Hi all, I tested a 3.0 and M coupe this morning back to back. Lovely cars but my first time so not sure if this is normal.

I'm short, 5'7", and with the seat in my position the steering wheel on the M felt offset slightly to the left. Can't say I noticed it on the 3.0

Any thoughts? Cheers.

Just been out to make sure and yes my 'M' is smack on my centerline. But when she comes on song, the steering wheel is to the left, right, in, out, up, down, God knows where it would be if I let go. The 'M' is ace, go for it!

Should be in the middle. Buy the ///M so much more car. Just need a few bob more to run it. :driving: 8)

thanks for the replies. it was probably less than 2cm but felt like my right hand was in line with my right knee. I was wondering if the seat moves forward slightly diagonally if that makes sense

In general I liked both. The noise from the M is something else, but the ride is a bit harsh for UK roads.

The steering wheel in the 3.0 is nicer to hold and the gear change smoother.

But the noise of the M..... The noise!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had both and never noticed a difference in the position of the wheel, but the M has hydraulic PAS and has so much more steering feel than the electric PAS in the 3 litres.

And that engine note is something else!

It was pretty inevitable I'd end up with an MC - I'd have probably bought one in the first place if I could have afforded it.

But if it is an issue the 3.0Si is much cheaper to run and is still a great car.

Cost wise I'm happy with either as I see both as parking cash in the car. I want a daily driver to sit alongside Lexus family saloon and vx220 track car.

The 3.0 is like the daily while the M feels like one for the weekend

The steering wheels are the same apart from the stitching, unless you are talking about the thin non M Sport steering wheel which everybody replaces.

The position is the same in all models.

To be fair the 3.0Si would probably make more sense as a daily driver.

The wheel was noticeably thinner, the M wheel was thicker than I recall from my old E46 M3 but that was a long time ago. The car I drove is an SI and has the sporty seats but not sure of all the spec nuances.
