Part exd for an M3 saloon over the weekend! I thought I'd miss it alot but haven't looked back. (Will miss it in the summer.)

It's has a acs race exhaust and just sounds amazing

The handling is also breathtaking, it does not let go.

This engine in the z would be a dream!

It's also much quicker than the figures would suggest.

Is the saloon the 4 door? If so, seen one the other day...Didn't like it much!

I'd love an M3 tho, but the DCT are all mid 30k!

For the same purchase price I'd happily take an e46 CSL over any e9x M3 - except maybe for the GTS - in fact, I was so underwhelmed by the e9x M3 that I'd probably even consider a standard e46 M3 over it.

The newer ///M cars just seem to be isolating the driver from actually feeling anything - and that view is from driving them, not reading magazines.

Yes, when you look at the speedo, you realise you're going much faster than you think, but I don't consider that a good thing.

The car is mainly for my new addition and my wife to get around in, and some weekend fun for me.

It is an M which is slightly more diluted than the z4m, and definality more than a csl but it's what fitted the bill for me. It cruises with decent levels of comfort. And the noise has a major grin factor!!

With the way M's are heading, I couldnt resist not having this V8!

Yeah,the v8 does sound sweet. i am sure u will enjoy it,alot :D
u will def miss the z in the summer though :driving:

Does the e9x M3 have blown arches like e46 did?
I can never tell if it's the lower stance and wheels or wider arches.

I like the 4 door and think yours looks really nice.

It does have bigger arches.

Thanks. Mine has been lowered, I'm not keen on the standard ones.

Oh I already have a fast diesel in a coupe, and needed a saloon. Ideally it should have been the other way but am happy!!

TBH if I was to sell the Z4 it would have to be for something other than a saloon car. I was thinking about an M6 if I can find one.

Test-drove a convertible M6 not impressed at all!!! It's a boat with with a big engine. I always wanted one and it was an anticlimax! Nice engine crap gearbox!

I think the saloon is the classy buy, v8 and super practical, definitely a great car for both fun and with the family. I don't think the next m3 will have a saloon in the range which is a shame :(

Yes the new M3 with that V8 is a great car  Yes agree I think future BMWs M with turbo versions for emissions is a step backwards. Just wished the new Z4 which is lovely looking car, there was a true M version with the M3 V8 engine in it. That would be nice. :D

However BMW’s are getting heaver, the new M3 is (Coupe 1655kg, Saloon 1680kg & Convert 1885kg). The CSL was 1385, nearly 300kg less. During the Performance BMW photo shoot, and handling and performance testing I drove the below 480bhp M3. In the article they quoted:

“On paper, the M3 delivers, and if performance is your bag then you’d be hard pushed to complain. If you have kids, travel reasonable distances or have just the one car then the M3 is such a cracking all rounder, cars of twice the price struggle to match it. If you have less responsibilities, and you looking for a car to put a smile on your face and bring a touch of motorsport to the road, then a Z4M Roadster will do exactly that, and leave you with enough change to graft on some of your own personality”

Have to say I do agree but I do think the M3 V8 is a great car (would love one) :D ... but I think BMW have missed a trick. 200kg lighter and it would have been an all time great, give 911 GT3 (latest version) performance. Oh yes my second car is an old Astra for taxi’ing around the kids, LOL.

Congrats - if I had to go more practical, the E90 M3 is exactly the route I'd take. I drove one at the BMW "M School" and was quite impressed.

Interesting.

I went from a CSL to an m3 saloon and chopped that in for the z4mc.

I am now selling this for a c63amg.

I would say the m3 saloon is an excellent car but just lacks that special something......it's not loud enough and perhaps too clinical. It's pretty useable as an everyday car and can keep up with the best.......

Give us your views of the AMG when you get it. I was always very interested in that car. Not in the "I'm buying one" way but in the "OMG I need that V8 in my life!" way. :D

sorry i posted this in the wrong thread for some reason :

Great looking Q-Car.

The difference for me would be summed up in how you got those two cars in their spaces.. if it was my MR it would have been speedily reversed into that slot barely looking, but if I'd been in the M3 I'd be rolling cautiously listening to the PDC and edging back. Very different cars, but both with excellent pedigree.

What a V8. :driving:
