Z4M seat retro fit..

I've just picked up some Z4M seats yesterday, so went to fit them just now...

All was going well, old seats out, new ones in place...

Then I realised the wiring is totally different? I'm trying to fit electric/heated M seats into my 54 plate 3.0i that had electric/non heated non-M seats as standard.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

I'm not too fussed about the heated element of the seats working, as I'm not sure I have the wiring there in the car for it, and it sounds like a lot of hassle!

you wont have the wiring for the heaters but the electric adjustment part just needs power and earth connected are you saying the plug is different under the seat if it is just find the power and earth s and connect them to your power and earth the same will apply for the occupancy circuits
 
I ended up swapping bases over from my standard electric seats.

I was never fussed about heating, definatly not bothered enough to start trying to make it work, as like you Beedub, I hate anything wire related in a car!

I do now need an occupancy bypass though, and to knock my airbag light off. Schoolboy error.
 
That's what I'll be doing :wink:

Next up retrimmed steering wheel, some new (non scratched) interior door handles, and some better speakers in the kick panel's.

The occupancy sensor in the pre-facelift is different to the occupancy sensor in the facelift, so when changing seats the connections aren't the same.

How tiresome, and very typically BMW ... more complexity appears to be always better in their book ...
 
If you get a bypass occupancy module you will also need to code the car to switch if the seatbelt chimes, as the car thinks someone is sitting in the seat. Can be done with SSS software in retro section.
