Z4M Roadsters on Pistonheads...

There are almost as many Coupés listed in the Roadster section as there are Roadsters.

Personally, I would never buy a Coupé from a seller / garage that has incorrectly listed it in the wrong section. If they get that simple task wrong, what else might they have overlooked?

No excuse for it IMO, only makes buyers lose confidence in the seller.

Wouldn't bother me. To some people a Z4 is a Z4 and some people won't understand the meaning of the word "roadster".

Doesn't mean that the car hasn't been their pride and joy or poorly looked after. If the car was straight and all checks came out ok, why not buy it? Finding the right car is hard enough without putting extra barriers in the way.

I think that's exactly the point "finding the right car". We know that the ///M's can have a few scary issues if car has been "mistreated"; "ragged" from cold, poorly maintained etc. If an owner / garage doesn't know the difference between a roadster and coupé I'd have no confidence that they'd looked after it correctly, did they ensure that the Insp II was carried out properly, were valve clearances checked? was the diff oil changed?

I don't think it's about putting barriers in the way, it's about trying to piece together any indication of the way the car may have been treated.

I expect they just tick both boxes to get a wider audience, and doubt it is anything to do with the fact they don't know what they have got.

Check the coupe section and i expect you will see all, if not most of the coupes are listed there too

Nope, no duplication. All of these are listed only as roadsters:

just coupe owners trying to pass them off as the superior model :D

This. It's like when you search on ebay to buy an iphone and listings for "not iphone" get picked up in the search

To be fair I've never listed on PH, sodon't know how it all works.

In any event, Z4MC prices are very aggressive at the moment.

Agreed on the MC prices. Granted i haven't been looking all to long (2/3 months) but i found that when i first started they were £2-4k cheaper! I am finally picking mine up tonight.

I have to agree, but at the same time they are so rare it could be a common misconception. Dealers just want it up as quick as poss.

True, but surely the dealers putting their prices up, means that private will only follow suit? It doesn't look like they are hanging about either even at the prices dealers are selling at.

It wouldn't bother me if a particular car was in the wrong section or not, a bit silly on the sellers behalf but I don't think it indicates that a car has been poorly maintained etc, I always check both sections anyway as it happens quite frequently.

It could just demonstrate that the seller isn't very good at listing things on t'internet.

They probably spend all day in the garage looking after their current pride an joy. I don't think you can judge anything by a relatively small amount of information. Everyone is different. Ask all the questions and do the checks.
