Z4M Roadster Wanted

Hi Folks,

Been here before looking, ended up buying an Elise. That's now sold and I'm back looking for what I should have got in the first place.

My budget is a bit on the low side... around £13k-£14k. Under 60k miles would be great.

Something Sepang Bronze would be ideal, so if one of the 9 of you was feeling generous.... :D

Not overly keen on grey or black cars, Imola would be a first choice (after Sepang). Let me know what you've got if you're considering selling.

Thanks
Tom

There's a couple on auto trader. One Imola red one at discount cars of Rochdale, it looks a good spec too.

I've seen that one, just it's pretty far away from me an it's in Rochdale, not sure either is good sign. That said I missed out on a BMW AUC Z4MR in Sepang by about 12 hours, at the BMW Dealer in Rochdale. It was the perfect car, absolutely gutted.

You might have to be extra patient mate...but if you are prepared to wait, then buying from a forum member (As I did) is often the best way into a ///Z4MR.
Glwts

I offered the asking price on that one as soon as the pictures went up, too late as well. Happy hunting :)

I tried to kid myself that no-one would want a brown roadster in the run up to Christmas.... wrong.

Fight you for a non-black on black one :D for the price the dealer one with warranty is good value compared to some of the trader prices out there. Book price on them has dropped quite a bit in the last month (2006 Z4M on 40k miles is booking at £10,350 for fair condition before any extras) £14 k seems about right for a good one with dealer backup. Always a few people after a bargain roadster in the winter, always less for sale though.

Personally I don't think book means a great deal on these - having bought , followed prices and sold one of these- we are talking 500 cars in the UK whith only about 20-30 cars for sale at any one time . I can't see a 40k roadster going for anything like 11k . 14k should bag a decent car private with 40-60k miles on it with full bmw service history .

Sepang was not going to hang around .

You are going to need to think about travelling the right car might be in the northwest, northeast which as HalifaxB will testify is no distance to pick up an M.

I'd agree with this. These are rare cars and the one in the spec you want, condition you want and price you can afford isn't going to pop up locally all that often. I traveled from Surrey to Liverpool to pick up my Z4MC, and a nationwide search is realistically required to get what you desire. The good news is that we are all a very helpful bunch. If you find a car that is too far away from you to inspect a lot of members on here will be willing to help.

I've road-tested and inspected cars for other members before and vice versa. Good luck with the search.

Dealer near us offered me a 2006 40k miles car for £11,500 last week. Nice car with a pile of service history from John Clark Aberdeen but needed a few things done or £12k with new disks and pads. I'd expect a private sale to be less than a dealer, at least there is some come back if it is a complete lemon.

AUK car on for £14,500 which you could get at least £500 off or a years extra warranty thrown in, got to be worth a grand more than a private sale to have the warranty and MOT cover plus they usually have new brakes and tyres and maybe inspection 2 just done if they have been nicely prepped.

I was pretty shocked when I put in Woot's 2008 M that it came up at £7500 trade, so a 2006 retail for 11.5 does not seem unrealistic. Didn't Paza pay £9 for his M as well?

leave it a month it will be an even better price, first snow yesterday

My backup if a AUK car doesn't come up though heard a few mixed reports about the garage (and that car been ragged round the area which the brakes would confirm). The passenger door leather and boot floor plastic underneath the carpet suggest it has had a water issue (though perhaps in the past) which would be the main thing putting me off, still an option but I'd need to talk to the previous owner first. It did drive very nicely and service history was great with lots of suspension work and even an oily sheet with the valve shim measurements from the inspection 2.

Silver Auk car reposted from last week, assume a sale dropped out. About 400 miles closer to petrolveins so I'll let him take a look first if he is interested. Quick chat confirmed it is still for sale and they are going to send me the walk round video.
