Z4M Residuals next 12months

Apologies if a post already exsists but the search function didn't pick one up.

I'm considering the Z4MC for the next 12months (potential other financial commitments after this hence timescale)

Car that I'm seriously considering is a 57 plate very well spec'd (Nav, heated seats, Rear PDC, individual paint etc.) 18k on the clock.

What's this likely to be worth in the next 12months with 10k miles on the clock ?

I've looked at models a year older with 30k on the clock to try and get a halde on what it may be worth and they seem to be going for around 18/19k, what's the general opinion, is this a realisitic figure or will they drop quicker in the 12 months to come???

Welcome

I ran a poll on this only a few weeks ago actually:

I'd say that if you buy privately and sell privately then you'd probably lose about £2k in a year.

£18k is probably about right for a 56 plate car with good options and low to average mileage, so in theory that is what your 57 plate would be worth in 12 months time.

you only have to look at the classifieds on ebay to see thats possibly a bit optimistic. and those will be dealer/trader prices, private sale will be even less. I'm guessing potentially more like 16/17k or less......

If you are looking at a 57 plate that is well specced with low miles then my guess is its the AUC at around £23K which is very expensive in my opinion and in a colour that you may struggle to shift without taking a large bath. When I sold the wifes mini in April this year the trader that came to collect it was a specialist BMW/Mini dealer and he expressed an intrest in my car and offered me £17.5k. At the time my car was on the standard wheels.

This is what he said to me. The easiest colour to sell is Blue and it must have Nav. My car is 07 with 21K miles and has everything except DSP, it also has the warranty so its not a million miles away from the car you are looking at so your spread between buy and sell is between £5-6K which is over 20%. That is what you can expect to lose if you buy an AUC car. If you buy privately and buy well then you have a chance to lose very little or nothing at all.

If the reason you want an AUC car is because of warranty/finance then look for a private car with the warranty and use either a broker or somone like Lombard to provide the finance. They will give you a better rate than BMW and you wll save a considerable amount of dough in the process. I'm probably going to sell my motor in the next couple of months. I'll be advertising it to sell and hope to get more than the trade offer.

I noticed today that Stratstone have reduced a '57 black coupe with 23k on the clock from over £24k to £19844,
Was strong money to begin with though as the only option seems to be heated seats.

If you Advertise it properly and keep it clean then £18k shoudl be doable. It is very close to a dealer price though so it woudl have to be in top notch condition.

Thanks for the reponses.

The reason I was looking down the dealer route was the peace of mind of the AUC element, finance can be had elsewhere.

The dealer prices seem way over private values and I'm trying to weigh up if it's worth the premium.

I'll investigate the private options with warranty.

Thanks

Of course an AA or RAC inspection goes some way towards providing the peace of mind but for a fraction of the cost of the AUC premium.

That said however by the time you add up the cost of the inspection, warranty, breakdown cover and take into account the extra hassle you might find it's not far off AUC.

And if you're not too fussed about the mileage this has to be the deal of the century:

I've seen it at my local dealer.

and a buoyant market........ :?

Noticed the car I was looking at has dropped off the BMW website, so own up who's just purchased the ruby Black Z4M from Eastern BMW Edinburgh :D

Can't believe how much more AUC cars are. You pay alot for the warranty. I think the advice above of £2k a year prob isn't far off.

If your interested in private my 07 plate is up at £16700 with nearly every option. I bought private and just kept cash back as a just in case fund rather than pay dealer prices. The 2 dealer cars I went to see were not great examples at all.
