Z4M replacement

The GTR is amazing as a weapon, but "going fast" does loose it's edge given some time...

I reckon you'll love the GTR, and 4 seats does have its benefits... but it'll never be as rewarding as the zed.

+1

I used to have a 996 turbo which was plenty fast but just incredibly boring to drive (it didn't help it was a Tiptronic also). Having previously had an Elise and exige the 996 just felt soulless.

I'd love to have a GTR for 3 months, then I expect I'd want back to basics again.

Wow! What a replacement... I'd love to own one... But i'd need to find a saudi sheikh daughter first!

Where are the update pic :poke:

I think they look fantasic cars. No first hand experience of them, but have heard they are expensive to run.

But, and to a certain extent, the M falls into the same problem, i think they are too quick for the road to enjoy.

In my M, which is obviosuly alot slower than this weapon, i also find the same problem. Before you know it, your can wave good bye to your licence and your still in 3rd gear!

I drove my Ex Girlfriends Mini Cooper S a lot and i thought it was brilliant. It was reasonably quick, but you could work it and feel like you were driving it quick and use the gears etc!

Nothing against these type of cars, i obviously love them and the fact that other people do too is great.

I did consider one, but just couldn't see how I'd get more out of it than a car of similar age/mileage for half the price (Z4MC/Cayman S/etc.) for my circumstances (no kids, parked on the street/drive in Liverpool, 20k+ miles a year). It also felt bigger than my e34 M5 (which is what I was swapping from) when trying to place it on the road.

It was a hell of a weapon though and whilst the Z4MC is quick, it gives you some sensation of speed from it's revvy nature. The GTR felt as deceptive/isolated as the V10 M5 I test drove...you'd mention to your passenger that it felt like 80mph when in fact you were doing 150mph

Didn't get more than 17mpg from the M5 (or 200 miles per tank) on a weekend test drive, and I didn't have the GTR long enough (about 30 minutes with some of it spent in traffic trying to get to a nice piece of road) to get any realistic economy figures out of it. It was the original version of the R35 though, so it had less power and possibly they've recalibrated the fuelling to give you a few more MPG?

Great choice  These cars do seem to divide opinion no arguing that its a car every driving enthusiast should try. In my experience its an absolute beast of a car and you have sensibly protected yourself against any nasty surprises there with the warranty and servicing. My friend had one which had been measured at 750bhp.

Very very fast. Not much fun to drive. Possibly the most expensive car to own and run there is - makes a Ferrari look cheap in terms of cost of ownership

Good luck!!!!

Wow,

Look at the price of an extended warranty:

1 Year up to 60000 miles Extended warranty was £2658

2 Years up to 100000 miles Extended warranty was £6558

awesome machine, much as i love the m and evrything about it, i saw a gtr near st mawgan last week, luckily he was going the other way, i could imagine the M thinking, " No mad4, you dont want to be messin with THAT !!!"!" still cant believe the 0 to 60 times , that is quicker than almost anything,..... still a ricer tho :poke:
