Z4M refresh

Hi all,

A quick note on my car’s refresh (is a 2009 M convertible) at Redish next week and a thank-you to everyone that has posted on the forum for giving me the ideas for my Christmas list! Really looking forward to getting the car back and seeing what a difference all the new parts make. In summary:

- New RS29 pads, braided lines and proper fluid
- Karbonius air box and Evolve Alpha N remap
- Bilstein PSS10 Coilovers
- 4.1 ratio diff
- Rod bearings done (now into the mid 70 thousands and I dont want to take any chances)
- new engine mounts
- general health check including timing
- various cosmetic items to be repaired like the drivers bolster and steering wheel being re-done in alcantara too.

I’ll let everyone know how it all goes when I get the car back next weekend but hope to see people out and about in the New Year (I am London-based FYI).

That’s a fair list....!

Post your findings on the billies and diff especially if you will please Z4. Hope it’s as good as you’re hoping......no doubts it will be from Reddish. :driving:

Some good stuff there! Presume you’ll be going on track days with that set up? (2009 model though?)

Hi Andy, in fact they don’t have the 4.1 in stock so I’ll have to wait until the New Year to put that on the car. Yes will be doing one or two track days I think to make the most of the set-up but it’s predominantly for fast road use.

Odd one on the model year - I believe my car is one of the last five cars that were registered in the U.K. in 2009.

Have you spoke to Darragh at Everything M3's regarding the diff? Be surprised if he couldn't sort you out a 4.1 diff, he's in contact with James at Redish as well unless that's who it was already coming from.

Brave choice running RS29 pads round London, hope you don't mind brake squeal! I'm doing the same thing with a BBK but already considering buying a set of road pads when not on a track day, guess we'll both see if it's liveable on the road!

Sounds great! Looking forward to the report :driving:

That’s a good suggestion actually thank you Andy - I will speak to Darragh. Although he was one of the options for all of this work and the waiting list for a slot was well into the new year!

Sounds about right, can see him expanding before too long. He always seemed to have a decent stash of 4.1’s ready to go so certainly worth a shout, good luck!

Here’s a link to a video of my rod bearings in case anyone wants to learn how Redish does it!

Thanks for posting that useful video OP.

Thankfully I had my bearing shells replaced earlier this year on 77K miles so don't need to worry about them now. :)
