Apologies for getting your hopes up: I've checked my boxes in the garage and can't find any trace of them. I must've binned them when I got rid of the twin passenger seat from the van. Possibly I was a bit over-vigorous with my clearout of the garage!

VW guy who purchased mine told me the ratinale was to do with the length and width of runners made them a good floor pan fit and the speats were considered a confortable seat without being too wide to fit what is a pretty narrow can.
Yep, the runner length is a good match between the Z4 and my VW van, but the width of the runners differs by 5cm (40cm van, 45cm Z4) with the Z4 seats also being offset to one side - the rails aren't centrally mounted on the Z4 seats due to the transmission tunnel. Easy enough to fabricate something though. The standard Z4 seats are a good match for their comfort and dimensions though, but a main plus for me is that the side bolsters aren't massive: as you're already having to raise yourself up and slide across into the van seats, this is a big bonus.

I've now fitted the m heated seats which look great. I have a couple of issues though. First is that they dont seem to heat very well. All wires are in correctly the seats are in very good condition so can't understand why this is! Anyone done a retrofit and had the same problem? Also the passanger side has two black clips sticking the back of it. Any ideas what they are there, is it normal? 021.jpg

Mine heated up hot as the sun when i fitted mine, so not sure why yours aren't?

The two black clips are for fitting a baby seat i think.

That certainly looks like ISOFIX points, but I don't have a kid or seen them before so can't be 100% certain.

I've found my heated seats heat up hotter/quicker when the engine is running - my guess being they draw a lot of power and it's somehow restricted when the engine isn't running to avoid draining the battery? Complete guess though.

yes, mine take seconds to heat up. Much quicker then in the old 3.0 I had and also heat a lot higher in the back as well.

As noted by others the heat output is very high. Just tested it and heats ups in a minute. it was warm enough to feel even without the engine running. I'm sure it woudl be higher and quicker with charge simply as the voltage is higher.

Just looking at those ///M seats.

I've got black ones in my zed, but never seen the logo embossed on them:

where on the seats are these??
or are they just on Z4M cars and not part of the sports pack on the non-M models??

not that it matters, just wondered when i saw this pic :?

I'm guessing not on the front having looked at this pic:

i've never actually looked at the back of my seats.

Its on the head rest. I've just discovered why they aren't heating up as they should. The leftvswitch is heating the right and vis versa. bolocks! Now I can do one o two things. Pull all the wiring out and start again. Or swap the wires in the seat heating switch 5 wires I would assume one stays where it is and then swap the other four like for like. Is this too risky? :?

If there is enough movement in the harness I'd go with swapping wires on the back of the switches. Seems a lot easier than pulling the harness back out of the floor and rerouting it all
