Z4M Purchase

Hi Guys

New to the forum but active on other Z forums as i currently own a Z3M Roadster.

Does anybody have info or history on the below car i am going to see next week?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201804255891254?make=BMW&postcode=gl45ya&advertising-location=at_cars&model=Z4M&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&sort=price-asc&radius=1500&page=1

That's my worry. I saw it on eBay. Everything so far seems to add up.

I've had the full history sent to me from BMW which matches. MOT history bang on.

Save yourself a packet and buy it on eBay then

Seriously, I'd give eBay bloke a call and see what he has to say for himself.

On the face of it looks a bargain for 10k which is why I pointed it out on the M market watch thread. But in that time it's been sold on eBay, then relisted and now it's on AT for 3k more. :scratchhead:

Ya sounds a bit dodgy to me ... also what’s with the gearstick ? Looks like aftermarket one in most pics then a very worn oem one in another ?

Both the eBay seller and the autotrader dealer are close to each other, maybe the dealer is selling as a consignment ?

Hence the price difference ?

I agree the eBay price is cheap but it’s got to be worth a look.
If I had the space available I’d go and look.

Nothing ventured nothing gained, if you view it doesn't mean you have to buy it. If nothing else it gives you something to gauge other cars against. Do you have a specific colour you are after?

I'm actually not too concerned on exterior colours. I just fancy a light interior.

I had one for a few months many years and still today maintain its one of the best cars to drive i have driven.

Its a good price and if all seems okay on inspection whats to lose?

Spoke to the seller at length over the last couple of days.

I researched the car heavily beforehand looking at MOTs, and all history and visits logged at BMW. I have access to all the BMW manufacturer systems through work. I didn’t tell him this but when I asked him questions everything matched up.

Reason for the price being so low is he’s been messed around a lot over the last few months and wants to see the back of it.

With all the access you have to the systems, its got to be worth a look! Where are you based, OP?

Annoyingly, i'm 4 hours away or i would jump over to go and have a look...

I've agreed to buy the car for the price advertised and he's agreed (which i will get in writing) that if its not as described he will refund and collect the car back off me.

I work opposite BMW so its going straight in for a health check once its delivered here.

Fingers crossed

Great choice.

Are you running this alongside your Z3MR?

Would be interest to see how they compare. An Estoril Z3MR is a car id love to own.

Yes i will be. For a year or two i will probably park up the Z3M and keep the miles down.

Its an Imola 99 Z3MR with 60k. Been in our family for 13 years now and always garaged - don't think i will ever sell it unless prices go mad!

My company car at the moment is an M240i as well so a bit of an "M" theme going on at the moment :driving:

Keep us in the loop as to the outcome.

Hi guys.

Car arrived this morning - Seems weird taking delivery of a car i had never seen.

Its pretty much as described and drives really nicely. Everything (so far) seems to work and any wear and tear highlighted before i bought it should be an easy fix.

Couple of questions as i'm new to the Z4M world having only had Z3M's previously.

The main brake light unit in the boot is cracked. I guess these are easy to replace?
The o/s/f halo light inst working. How do you replace these?

Rear centre brake light is easy to replace. just make sure you don't do the new one up too tight. For once a clear ///M one will actually be cheaper than the non ///M red ones.

I think the halo bulb is one that will need the holder modifying to use a normal bulb. Not a hard job and saves a fortune over the price a dealer would charge.

Fingers x your Happy Ending continues.

& as you know... :worthless:
