It's funny, I think a lot of people think flimper spec refers to a poorly specced car rather than a non-satnav one

I was under the impression that a flimper spec = a poverty spec'd car.

Me too.

But bluetooth, cruise both missing...I know the engine sounds great, but did you get a radio?

He has a radio, whilst cruising on the motorway without a phone, no cruise, being blinded via the side mirrors as they are not chromatic and a cold bum as the seats are not heated - he needs something to keep himself entertained until he can park into the wall as there are no parking sensors :lol:

Bluetooth - is handy I reckon so hands free and I used it all the time
Cruise - had it on mine but didn't use it much and it doesn't show you what speed its set at like other BMW`s
Heated seats- I think should come standard with all cars with leather seats and I always spec it
Chromatic door mirrors- are dimming mirrors like the rear view mirror I think so it cuts the brightness back a little from the following cars headlights which I do like to be fair.

Mine didn't have Nav but its poor anyway so I just used my Tomtom instead.

The service manual says they're checked... Someone on here a while back said that BMW don't check them on Inspection 1 anymore. Mine will be getting checked...

Shame that more of the PHer comments at the end of each section aren't more positive. Whilst the article is very detailed I thought that on the whole it read quite negatively. Maybe I need to read it again...

They definitely should do the shims on insp 1, had mine this August. I think the stealer price I paid was around 650 ish, but ontop of that needed brake fluid, a gasket, and another niggle.

I had to do a lot of chasing around before buying mine as something didn't add up on the service history. All present and correct now with print offs to prove, but confirmed that at Insp1 and 2, BMW main dealers mine had been into did not check shims. Nor did they do gearbox or diff oil. Yet more proof that main dealer service history really does mean jack all when out of warranty. It took a lot of arguing and threatening press contact to get the car back and checked in, with an oil service FOC. Thankfully all was fine.

My S3 had full main dealership history. Until Audi backed out of repairing rear springs FOC covered under an MOT warranty that had been sold to the previous owner. It was proved by VOSA inspector that Audi had indeed failed to notice snapped rear springs at MOT, but Mondial Assistance plain out refused to cover me because it was classed as a retest...
