INDEPENDANT OF PRICING DIFFERENCES (based solely on the car version itself), If you had a friend looking to buy one of the following in a low mileage pre-owned version, which one would you root for?
Drove both the Z4 sDrive .35i (BMW NL) and Z4MC (my own) and I think that for most people the 2009 Z4 would be the better choice, but for me stil the Z4MC works best .
I'd still go for the Z4MC as I'd always be thinking that the folding hardtop was giving me the worst of both worlds - i.e. all the extra weight that the hardtop and motors give you with the loss of space from needing to store it somewhere on the car at all times.
Not a great poll as it doesn't specify the model for the new Z4 .
Similar to Kasteel I suppose, it would depend on the person buying. If they for example just want to own a 2 seater sports car and not bothered about having a fine tuned razor sharp car, I'd recommend the 2009 version. Not everyone will appreciate the M. A friend of mine who loves her comfort, loves quality finishings and will pay for it, doesn't care about going fast (not surprising as her driving sux),I recently recommended the 2009 Z4 to her instead of the SLK.....preferably the slowest one so she doesn't kill herself . If she bought an old M she'd be disappointed I know for sure, simply for the hash ride and its temperament.
If someone appreciated a car fined tuned ultimately for performance and driver enjoyment on the edge and going fast (potentially making sacrifices elsewhere), I'd recommend the Z4 M.
I want to test drive a 35iS when they're available. I like how the front end likes like the Z4 M. I have no intentions of buying one, just want to try one.
Absolutely love the M, and had there been a good one available at my last time of purchase I would have gone for it, but things move on and realistically the 2009 in top spec has to be a better buy IMHO.
It always seems a shame that cars that some might describe as "cult classics" go out of production to be replaced by newer models. Had I the choice when the time came to part with my TT, I would have ordered the same car again because, I loved the whole package, especially the classic TT shape and style . . .now I love my Coupe and very pleased that I found this particular car. No doubt when the time comes to change it, a new shape Z4 will be top of my list and hopefully by then BMW will have introduced a proper "M" version (although I understand that they almost have with the 35iS, wonder what's next?)
