Z4M Inspection 1 Quotations (Service now completed)

My car is due its Inspection 1 service within the next 3-4 weeks so I've been ringing round a few dealers, some of which are local to me and others based on recommendations on here. I thought you might be interested in the results. Now I haven't attempted any price matching yet - this is purely first price quoted and my car is under 4 years old so doesn't benefit from any extra discount for 4+ cars.

Williams Stockport (ex David Holmes) £815.00
Stratstone Chesterfield £756.23
Batemans Lake District £701.08
Sytner Nottingham £671.72
Soper Lincoln £765.00

I was quite surprised at the Sytner price but all are inclusive of all parts, labour, oil & VAT.

What do you guys think ? Anybody got any better prices recently ?

EDIT:-
Work carried out by Sytner Nottingham today for the price above. The only extras were brake fluid change - which was done 6 months early because all being well the car won't be back in for 12-18 months when the oil service will be due, and some work to stop the drivers seat creaking (both which I asked them to do). Service was generally very efficient indeed. Next time around I may well get the 4+ discount price so maybe the Inspection 2 won't cost me anymore than the Inspection 1 has done....(he says hopefully)

Looks like Williams (David Holmes) prices have gone up since the takeover and now closely match the others sites in the Williams group

Just means I've got to restart my search for trustworthy dealers to do my servicing :headbang:

My thoughts entirely Tony ! Wouldn't Batemans be a good bet for you ? Family run firm, come highly recommended by SammyZ I believe...

amazing how one can charge 670 and another 815 for the same service!

I'm beginning to lose all faith in main stealers.

They're next on my list to try, although you've got to factor in the extra cost of petrol & time lost of going up to Grange-Over-Sands (90 miles each way) just for a service - and as I have a friend not far from Sytner Solihull, I might give them a go too.

It's all pretty academic really, as I won't need an Inspection I for a year, and I'll not be getting anything other than warranty work done at a dealer anyway.

It is amazing, especially when it's supposed to be based on a fixed number of hours.
If that was the case, I don't see how Williams Liverpool (with a lower hourly rate than Sytners) can charge more than Sytners for the same work. It can only be down to Williams wanting a bigger margin - which is entirely up to them, as it is a business after all.

It's funny when I ring up and mention the word 'M' they get all sycophantic and I have visions of them rubbing their hands at the other end of the phone....

M Tax anyone ?

The two cheapest when I had mine done were Stratstone Maidenhead and Cotswold Cheltenham fwiw

I didn't know there was a discount actually - is that nationwide?
It's up to the individual dealer whether to participate or not, and to set whatever discount they feel appropriate. It's mainly to try and claw back some of the work that goes to specialists once the car's are out of warranty.

In general, the older the car the bigger the discount - e.g. a 4 year old ///M will only get a 15% labour and 10% parts discount; a 15 year old e34 can get 50% labour & 15% parts discount - and the actual discount depends on the the dealer.

However whenever I've asked, I've always been spun the old "it's already included, sir" line, despite them not being able to show on the invoice where the discount has been applied (i.e. the labour rate was exactly the same as for a brand new car).

try Kings Lynn BMW out of iinterest to see how much they charge... 01553 692000

I've done exactly the same calls recently.. we could have split them up.

In case you're interested, Bluebell Wilmslow quoted me the highest of the lot at £840. :o (this was after quoting me around £1,050... I was speachless for a few seconds and then the chap realised I had asked for Inspection 1 and quickly corrected the quote)

I'm thinking I'll keep the car for quite a while now and don't anticpate taking the extended warranty, so I'm going with Darren Wood. Met both Darren and Mike earlier and the week; real friendly, knowledgeable chaps and have already helped me out before parting with any cash in their direction.

Keep us posted on the price match - not a direction I'll be taking but would be interested to know.

snows portsmouth - service was sh1te though, they also didnt tell me mobility kit was 9 months out of date or mention coolant!!!
