Z4m indicator issue

Over the past 3 weeks I keep getting an intermittent issue with the indicator light on the m.

Now and again, the indicator light on on side stays on when the car is off or running. It works fine when indicating wtc but stays on constantly with the warning symbol on in the dash? Garage replaced a number plate bulb prior to this and passenger footwell light is disconnected?
The xenons work as they should.

Any ideas?

I know on some BMW's the LKM module would bring on a indicator on the corner where there is a bulb fault.

This is so the corner of the car isn't in darkness... Are all the sidelights working correctly ?

As Z4M-2006 as said, the indicator is a substitute for a failed side light. The other possibility is that the Light Control Module is failing.

Ive just started getting this too - when I turn the lights off and on again it sorts otself so I figured a bulb is on its way out. Bulb failure warning shows on the dash too..

I'll have to check next time to see if the head or tail light are lit when it happens next..

Mine did it intermittently for a few months several years ago then it stopped happening. At one point I had to disconnect the battery to switch the lights off! It was my indy who suggested the LCM could be the problem. I can't remeber if he re-coded something but I am certain neither LCM nor lamps were replaced.
My old E46 320d had the LCM replaced before I bought the car - apparently it's a common problem.
