Z4M Headlight woes...

Hello, I was directed this way by a PH member, hopefully you guys can help.

I have a E85 Z4M Drivers side Zenon headlight with badly corroded electrical connections (rest all good) that has shorted the balast. Been advised I need a new light/ballast @£1400... No second hand units that I can find, wondered if anyone has one for sale or can point me in another direction that wont be so ££££ painful.

Many thanks.

Hi & welcome - Just search Z4 xenon (spelt with an 'x') ballast on Ebay and you 'll see dozens for around £70.

First time - 15 minutes to get the bumper off, 10 for the light out, 5 to swap the ballast and 15 to refit the bumper. £1400 is just ridiculous...

Hi, yes I could see the cheap ballast no problem its just the headlight that isnt available, thanks for the info on taking bumper off thought it would take longer.

OK - misread that you were after just the ballast. Personally I'd pull the light out myself to determine if I need a new one or if it's repairable and not simply go out and get a complete replacement.

Couple of pointers that you need a specific headlight unit if you seek a spare and it will be a facelift xenon which will have clear indictors and a silver inner. They come in all combinations of pre and post facelift, clear and amber indicators and silver or black inners, halogen and xenon, so be very clear in your quest.

There are a few specialist breakers so I'd do some old fashioned telephone calling the them. BM Spares is one.
