Z4M GruppeM air box

Evening, PDJ

When I emailed GruppeM direct, a few months back - about buying one for my Z4MR, I'm sure it was circa £670 all in for a brand new item, including shipping and import duty etc, to the UK from Japan.
If this was circa £475-500 I'd be interested. However, at £600 and a new one can be had for circa 10% more, - I'll leave it, but thanks anyway & GLWTS

...Look like: AaronMc - it's yours Sir..

Cheers

I contacted GruppeM a couple of weeks age, the price including shipping, import duty & tax was approximately £840 inclusive of a 15% discount.

Having to try really hard not to make an offer, given I'm in the process of buying a house atm... :headbang:

How many miles has it been on your car? And did it go on new?

Truth, wasn’t that back in 2014 though through a group buy.

Also I don’t think GruppeM can guarantee the import fees will be paid, so you could get stung with those.

I based the price on a quick search in here and I am open to offers

Also it is available straight away

No it wasn’t through a group buy. Only got my mc in jun 2015. I contacted them direct to the Japan office end of 2017. They claimed the unit was only worth £200. In turn the import duty, which I had to pay, was reduced. They never guaranteed any import duty would be paid by them. I paid it as you normally would.

I went direct to Japan last year after chatting with Truth. All in including import duty I paid just under £680

I ordered through Gruppe Japan last March (2018) took 3-4 weeks , worked out £630 duty paid  :)
They will do a small discount if you order 3 or more , saves around 10% on the actual kit price , though postage & duty remains the same

I cant believe that this small bit of carbon with a filter and a couple of banjo clips is over £600......... and people pay it!! :o

Once you are smitten with the stock induction on S54 ( & its a major player in the cars character) then adding the GruppeM amplifies that roar to such a extent its hard to imagine owning a ZM without one , it adds little to the bhp imo , car does feel sharper on throttle but that could be placebo
Well worth investing in one for any owners out there reading this thread & wondering why folks would spend £600 on a piece of carbon & a couple of banjo clips :D

The GruppeM inlet is now for sale as a straight sale please see second page thanks.

I would like to return my air inlet to standard, does anyone have a standard set up that they no longer require or would like to have a GruppeM and swop with the set up on my car and a cash adjustment.

This is for the S54 engine in the Z4M

I will go and price up the bits I think I will need from the main dealers next week.So have an Idea of costs etc.

Just curious , did you buy the 80k interlagos blue ZMR with questionable wheels ? :?

I will try and get some advice from a Mod to see if it is best to start a new thread or have this one moved to a for sale.

The reply

I think we need to keep this thread going, if its moved changed or deleted it will probably cause more problems than it solves.
Just add to the thread what the current situation is and try to be fair to all parties.

A few have asked why the answer is it Increases the sound this is a personal taste it was a little bit too noisy for me all of the time, and insurance wise it was a mod and an in your face one if you open the bonnet so my choice was to return to standard and this has now been achieved thanks to Tom. There is probably a performance gain but I may have grown out of that having owned a road legal race race speed up Westfield, maybe it is my age....

So My GruppeM air inlet is now for sale As a price is required I will put £600 or near offer. As that is what I said originally at the start of the thread.

If James28 can confirm he has passed on this due to me getting a second hand air box as apposed to a swop.

So Woolybear appears to be second inline can he confirm he interest

And AaronMc appears to be third inline can he confirm he interest

To be fair to the above I will wait a few days for those to get in touch before selling to anyone else.

Here are all the pictures I have of it both on and off the car. (some here and some at the beginning of the thread as 10 is the max) You will get what you see in the picture of the unit off the car I don't think you will need anything other than a few tools and a tywrap or two to fit it. There is a slight rub mark in the rubber around the carbon scoop where the pipe has rubbed a little as seen in the picture.

I'm out - don't have £600 on me at the moment. Good luck with the sale.

I havnt heard one but I can imagine.
Sometimes I just think that items are only a certain price because people pay it, not because that's what it costs or what its worth and if people stopped paying these inflated prices the price would come down.
My head is in the clouds with that one though as after reading it back you could apply this to anything in life.

I agree with your slant in many respects & my first ZM i covered 7k in quite happy with the stock noise , my mistake was a passenger ride in srHutch's with Gruppe fitted  it was a "must have" requirement from then on no matter the cost :D & bought sensibly the money comes back to you when the car goes so its kinda "rent-a-Gruppe" :P
