Z4M door - same as Z4?

As ex had 2.5 I z4
And I slammed her door every time after being in mine and her not hard enough once in mine
Aren't they more reinforced ?

Was it a pre facelift? Pre face lifts sound very tinny and light when they close. Post cars sound much more "like a golf!" .........er i mean bmw!

It's all down to the sound deadening

Yeah they made special m doors with special m stuff added to the metal.

I think the M Roadster ones were slightly lighter. :P
You jest, but the coupe's door window is bigger than the roadster's, so the coupe's door is in fact heavier :poke:

Cant believe some lowlife did that and left the scene! As for pdr ,... I dont think so ! No decent body shop would do anything to that other than a new skin, way more labour intensive to repair it and then you still have a door that is full of filler. Skin or s/h door, a bonus if you manage to find one in the right colour.good luck , hope you find the culprit.a reminder to be anal regarding defensive parking, a contentious issue I know but it saves this kind of hassle and frustration.

By 'defensive parking' I hope you don't mean taking 2 parks so no one can park either side? If so, you're right about it being contentious  .
And OP, feel your pain having had other cars (not the Zed thankfully) hit in a car park and the culprit scarper. Not nice at all.
Hope you can get a replacement door fitted soon so you can put this behind you.

The PDR reference was for the door on eBay, not fixing the OP's.

Unless there's a crease in those dents, then I'd say a good body shop will get that back for you. Where do you live OP...I can recommend a couple of decent ones around the Essex/Herts area.

I just wish the coupe and roadster shared the same rear wings. Need to get mine replaced and finding coupe wings seems to harder to find than rocking horse poo!

I've got a pair of side skirts you can have for a 70 quid if you interested... removed from the car at around 10k miles...
they are sat in my loft doing Ziltch and wont ever being going back on my car.

Thanks. Don't suppose you want to sell just one?! Are you still based in Sutton Coldfield, as per your profile? Quite a long way from me, but I will have a think. Thanks.

Yeah, it's horrible. I was horrified when I walked back to the car. I parked in the end space, so I wouldn't get a door ding, and then someone just drives into my car! Luckily it is just the door skin that's damaged, the rest of the door seems ok.

I've no idea what's involved in replacing the door skin, got to weigh up whether to buy the Monaco blue door on eBay, or replace my door skin and have it repainted.

Have you seen this?

Need to check the colour and might need a PDR man, but could be an option.

Brighton to so easy to collect and check it over.

Thanks. No I haven't seen this. Not sure whether to buy this, or whether to put a new door skin on and have it repainted.

It's not in Brighton, it's in Latvia! Just read the smallprint.

That's a bugger. Would have been a no brainer. I would get a replacement doo and re-spray. Can't see the point of trying to re-skin, more likely to end up with corrosion that way I would think.

Likewise, it takes a VERY skilled bodyshop to reskin a door PROPERLY...

Mike

Re-skinning just isn't cost effective for most bodyshops these days. Its usually cheaper, quicker and easier to buy a full door and your guaranteed a good finish. I dont even think BMW would supply a door skin so if you do go down this route you would have to find one after market, if such a thing even exists.

I'm going to visit the bodyshop I've used in the past tomorrow evening. Hopefully they're able to offer a good solution at a reasonable cost. The Monaco blue door might be an option, but at £300 it's quite a lot of money, especially if it might need painting.

Give Mizzi a ring at C&N BMW Breakers, sure he had a monaco blue one in there, and I reckon a door from him will be a damn sight cheaper than £300.. 01254 230033

Tell him Mike sent you.
