Professional as in boroscope down the bores ? No I didn't as with all M96's if its gonna go bang it will !!

Same as S54... If is gonna spin the bearings, how do you know??

Anyway...it's done less that 6k a year and everything on at the minute..so fingers crossed it will all be fine..

Andy, I know I bemoan the 996.. But it's a box ticking exercise, and the C4S is now ticked !

Cool, sounds like you know the score, excellent, let us know how this one goes

Never realised 911s were so affordable for c.2003-2006 models. Hmmmmm :)

I may join you-they might just have a less twitchy emission light!

911's are only cheap now..

But remember, all the smiles, good humour and thumbs up signs will go..

NOBODY likes a porsche driver..

Cheers....

Oh...PVR...It does have the PSE,which is essential for 911 ownership....

That would be my only worry - the extra attention a 911 would get. Plenty unwanted attention out there.

I worried lots about my zed. Happy to say I have at least 4 months of worry free motoring in the Clio until I buy another toy :)

Does yours play Yankee Doodle when you open the door though?

Nice choice. One of those or an XKR Jag for us next (in about five years)

Agreed, you are a speed traps wet dream when you arrive.

Despite that, I will get a 911 at some stage. Just need to justify it to myself :D

Having had them before i can only say they do attract the wrong kind of attention....

People give you sideways looks and mouth "arsehole" as you drive past...

That could be just the people that know me though...

Never had it with my aircooled 964 , quite the opposite , had strangers wanting to chat about that & the 996 didn,t stay long enough to upset anyone  just didn,t like the manual after having a tip so it was gone within 2 months  after a euro roadtrip though , that was memorable watching Le Tour

Very nice  what a lovely shape...it just sits so well. :)

I nearly bought a 996 C4S before I bought the M, brilliant car really loved it but felt a little antiquated and the thought of the possible problems and for the age/milage/price you can have a Z4M coupe 5 years newer and lower milage with less likelihood of something going wrong with a full 2 year BMW warranty for more than 5k less, so bought the Z. At the time (2 years ago) a good <52 plate C4S <45k miles was £25k a good Z4M 56 <45k was £17.5k the Z also had newer tech and the Z is a tad quicker. 4S better in the weather tho.

Servicing is about the same, the 911 slightly cheaper so far. Your quite right tho, it is blown out of proportion big time, if it goes it goes. Only problem is you can't get a warranty which will cover you up to the amount of a new engine, max I could find at the time was per item 8k, and you need north of 12k. Unless it is a Porsche warranty, but Porsche will want £30k for the same car. Another reason I didn't buy one, they are much more sensitive than the S54.

We have a 997 Cs and the 996 did feel antiquated in comparison but I love the 996 C4S great looking car wide body looks fantastic. Would have to be a newer one for me tho.

Also quite opposite on the 'arse' scale. Up here in Cumbria there are barely any so everyone gives the thumbs up and appreciates it, never had an issue.

964 is lovely too! Would love one!
