Z4M Coupe *** reduced! ***

was the m not comfortable to go to work eveyday?

i wouldn't say i was not comfortable, just it could be more comfortable if you see what i mean, some days when its cold and raining, you up for work earlier in a bad mood, the rock hard suspension and our crappy UK roads do make the best mix... its a shame it didn't have PASM like the 911, that would of sorted the issue :)

Surely a nice set of adjustable coilovers could have fixed that (bit late now I know!). Set them softer for daily use, and then firm them up on track... if that was the only problem with the car anyway.

Either way, enjoy the new car. When does it arrive (don't remember seeing you mention a date)?

Just saw it on Sytner's site - £26,350 :o

I presume that Doh got between 21000-22000 for it from the dealer, I am not sure if he p/x'd it or if it was a straight sale to Sytner.

yeah i did consider that, however i wasn't keen on spending money on mods, been there and done that with the Sierra... man does it get expensive!

oh and i'm picking it up tomorrow

Makes you laugh doesnt it that if someone had seen it on here they could have had it for £22500

i actually offered it to a couple of people for less than that, neither came through :headbang:

i think the fact its up for so much demonstrates the condition i left it in

it was a straight sale, your pretty spot on with the estimate :)

I'm now officially gutted. :)

Don't get me wrong I am happy with my car but yours represented excellent value due to the spec, if a couple of months older and a few more miles than mine.

Schweet, a neighbour has a white 2S and a mate had a 4S. You'll be back to post the pics? When do you get it?

well here are some pics as promised :) its a great car, so glad i did the change, there are only 2 things i miss about the M, one the newness, had mine from 3 months old so it was like a brand new car, the 911 is over 5 years old and has done over 40k... and two the fuel economy! basically the M is brilliant on ful, i used to average between 26.5 and 28.5 (with regular unleaded) on my daily commure of 68 miles... the 911 barely scrapes 23 MPG and thats with super! it doesn't sould much but when you doing 20000 miles a year its a big addition to the running costs! I think have my problem was i was actualy expecting it to be better after reading some owners posts on the web... hopefully its not idicative of a problem

anyway here are the pics, its not that clean but the sun was out and i had a camera!

 Nice

It's the spec I'd go for

C2S in black with aero kit and black wheels, probably the best driving and involving 997 this side of a GT3, prefect for every day use, but can be driven like you've stole it too

The flat 6 does use more fuel than BMW's straight six, my CaymanS never showed more than 19 mpg, the Z4M driven is the same manner shows 23+mpg. There's nothing wrong with it, just thirstier

Is it much faster than the M?

I'm sure Doh will have his own views, but I'd say there is very little in it power / speed wise (though you can definitely corner harder and faster). The difference with the 911 is primarily the way it feels. I know it's a bit of a car magazine cliche but the level of feedback through the pedals and the steering are unlike anything else out there; it's as if where the Z4M uses a big iron hinge for the brake pedal, the 911 is using a precision engineered set of springs and levers built by Breitling. Once you get into one it's so immediately comfortable and familiar it's like you have had it 20 years, such a balance and precision to it all....definitely easier to drive very, very fast. For me, the Cayman doesn't quite have the same magic as the 911 to drive.

Definitely on my list for a replacement, nice choice

yeah i'd go along with that, once its rolling there doesn't seem much in it really.. from a standing start of the line it would obliterate the M though, the traction is amazing, i've hardly had the TC flashing at me.... the bloody M TC light was like a strobe! i recall seeing it flash on a full bore 7500 rev change from third to fourth!

main thing for me is comfort, its like night at day, the seats are softer, the suspension is simply miles better (my biggest gripe with the M). I miss the induction roar of the straight six, but the sports exhaust on the 911 more than makes up for it. Practicallity wise i think there about the same, i dont really thing you can call the rear seats err.. seats IMO, its just extra load space.

I get this too, especially on country roads. Have come to the conclusion that it's just the way the car goes - the TC almost flickers to egg you on :driving: I guess the key for me is that you still get forward motion..

I know some drive the car with the TC off :fuelfire: , not me though even though the car is much quicker with it off as was tried and tested on the evo triangle route behind an ex TVR owner!!

Really, I haven't tracked my car so don't know the limits and I haven't turned the T/C off and driven hard either.

I don't really fancy trying too hard on public roads, until I kow the car better.

My T/C is always flashing and spoiling the fun.

Is it a hand full with a heavy foot and no T/C?
