Z4M Comparison

Hi All

I am (once again) a newbie on this site. I owned a z4 3.0 a few years back and may be in the Z market again soon.

Since owning the first Z I have been lucky enough to be driving a Ferrari 360... sadly this has to go as my wife and I are seperating  . I would be interested in any opinnions / comparisons if anyone has driven both. Clearly I don't expect it to be quite as fast but I still like the looks of the Z4M and adn it looks like a fun drive... is this the case ?

What are the flaws / good points you see in the car ? How does the M compare to the origional 3.0 ? The Ferrari was not perfect either so just keen for some honest feedback as to how you have found your driving experience with these machines would be great.

Thanks in advance - Chris.

Nice to have a former Modena owner on the forum!!

Why don't you tell us about your experience and opinions about the 360 and we can try to comment off of your threads.

Yes, as gannet said, lots of threads about this already. I would summarize that anyone who has driven both and owned both agree that the M is the one to own if you can afford it.

I assume a former Ferrari owner will not have have issues owning any bimmer, even the M, but often the female comes out ahead in divorces, leaving the husband with much less than half of the estate.

Little comparison chart I did when researching the upgrade to a 3.91 final drive for my M Coupe:

BMW M Coupe
330hp@7900rpm
262lb-ft@4900rpm
3065lbs
3.91 final drive
o-60 ~4.6sec
161.9" long
70.1" wide
98.3" wheelbase
50.7" height
14.5gal fuel capacity
11 cu. ft. luggage capacity
35cd
9.29hp/wt ratio
11.70 tq/wt ratio

Ferrari 360
400hp@8500rpm
275lb-ft@4750rpm
3197lbs
4.44 final drive
o-60 ~4.5sec
176.3" long
75.7" wide
102.3" wheelbase
48.6" height
15.1gal fuel capacity
12 cu. ft. luggage capacity
34cd
7.99hp/wt ratio
11.62 tq/wt ratio

So the Z4M (with 3.91 gears) will be only slightly slower in initial acceleration. And, of course, as far as looks it's a dead heat :), though the 360 is my favorite modern Ferrari.
