Vanne said:
savings were 15.3 kgs. carbon roof was 1.9kgs before clear coat, and the oem e86 roof weighs about 17.3 kilos. There is a hell of a lotta weight in the standard oem battery and tray.. 25kgs savings (thats a few big macs)

there is another easy 7kgs in the rear sub woofers alone.

nav and Audio:
04.8 lbs-Harness
01.0 lbs-misc brackets
04.2 lbs-2 Kick panel Speakers
14.2 lbs-2 Rear subwoofers
00.2 lbs-GPS antenna
09.0 lbs-Amps/amp brackets
03.4 lbs-4 mid range speakers
00.2 lbs-2 tweeters
03.6 lbs-GPS/DVD drive
02.4 lbs-Pop-up display
02.6 lbs-Head unit

Really interesting, thanks for that.

it always amused me over the years how much time effort and money people would spend to shave some weight off there bike or car, but did not consider that the vast amount of money they had just spent could easily have been achieved by loosing a few pounds themselves

Remember, Vanne - Adrian Newey just told Cosworth to make the clear lacquer on the plenum of their new V12 an optional extra because it weighs 80grams. Keep fighting.

I’m not sure losing 100kg is very healthy for most drivers.

Although I have been known to have a big s**t before a track day, and go ou on no more than half a tank of fuel :P

I agree, and its probably more relevant to the bike world, where people fit numerous lightweight parts to shave a small amount of weight

Yeah, agreed. It does amuse me though on YT shows like TheSmokingTire, where the host and the car owner will probably add a good 1/4 of the weight to some of the cars. Then they wonder why something feels underpowered..

More done today..
