Z4M (C) Supercharged.............?

General post, but hoping that 'beedub' is still in the forum;

I saw a late version Z4MC from the States with a SUPERCHARGER = 500BHP
From beedub's sign off he has the ess supercharger, I like the sound of that. I honestly think the car can handle it. I have just sold an E60 M5 and miss the intergalactic acceleration. I dont miss much else as the Z4MC is a much more enjoyable drive.

Does anyone have experience of the supercharger?
Can anyone recommend a specialist to fit?
Do brakes need upgrading to cope?
Any idea of cost?
Insurance?????

Lots of questions, I know. Any help would be genuinely appreciated.

BTW I am based SW London. Local options would be really nice :P

Here's the ESS,

and a fitter,

and fitted,

This is the thread you want which will answer most (if not all) of your questions:

Definitely need to upgrade the brakes.
Probably around 7-8k with brakes?

glastoveteran, it's a 500bhp beast... why are you so shocked by that??

Each time an M5 pulls off at the lights the Earth's rotation changes by .1 of a degree. 0-60 in 4secs. 400lb of torque 8)

It probably weighs another half a ton so initially seemed surprising but yes now you mention it, it does make sense.

hi matey, yup im still here with the z4m, the ess vt1 is very quick, the main problem i seem to get is traction issues, on full acceleration the traction lights on up till 3rd which really scuppers performance, with it off its abit of a handful, the car is very very quick, me and andy (stock bar gruppe m) will be doing some runs soon, so no doubt we will post the vids for all to see, but the car is much quicker than when it N/A, the car can handle the extra power but.... i can tell you its very lively, but great fun.

did you see my thread, its about 23 pages long, so have a read and see what you think, if you have any more questions, let me know.

Would fatter tyres make a difference? The DSC is a bit restrictive, even on a stock car (I've been on full throttle with no acceleration for several seconds). I find a normal Z4MC quite a pleasure to drive (in a hairy chested, arse out way) with the DSC off -- is the supercharged one much different?

carl im on 19s with pilot sport rubber, brand new rubber infact! with the traction control off you get a snaking moved under full power, its controllable but alittle scary, if its nice and warm... the hooks up and rockets off down the line!!! i think my favorite bit is the noises the car now makes, whistles, blow off noises, whooshes on top of the m3 engine note and rpi'd straight pipes, its pretty much heavenly.

now that would be intresting, z4m S/C vs m5!!! hopefully vmax day i will come up against one, i will of course post all vids from that day.

Beedub...... if that's the best bit then please can your record about 15 mins of this noise, put it on a CD and send it to me (will reimburse accordingly - perhaps a group buy  ). I can then play it at appropriate times when driving my Zed and save oooodles of cash   ....... :P

is it worth selling the zed and just getting any 1.0ltr car, as long as you play the cd whilst driving it should be ok

no chance for the m5 - statement based on driving a G-Power Z3MC with the S50 lump and putting it against Lambos, Fezzas and E60 M5s...

There is a Swedish Z4MC with the Ess setup, a Holinger sequential box and carbon everything - doors, wings, bonnet, hatch and lexan windows... Now, that would be seriously fast :driving:

OP here is a recent clip of me on track....... notice im having alittle issue keeping the from killing me and the mrs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwi2YzM6EpM

cheburator, i think the g-power kit is alot rated to 550hp plus dont forget the z3m is alot lighter than the z4m, but ive driven an m5 and i think we'd be on par, then again ill be able to show clips soon, i have another trackday on saturday.......................

TAZ X, im suprised you feel like this re the m5, but to be fair the car is alot heavier then yours or mine so i can imagine it feeling maybe cumbersome, i dont know if thats the right wrds for it.

hehe, let's just say that G-Power were full of a lot of charge-cooled air when it came to their powerclaims. .. The coupe above makes 510bhp on a good day and only after changing the waste gate to hold more boost and mapping it properly. The original Alfa-N map by G-Power was an embarrassment.

I think the Z3MC is not that lighter than a Z4MC, moreover, for top speed, mass is almost irrelevant - it is aero and brute bhp available.

I have chased the E60 M5 at the Ring many times in my boggo standard former press car  Z4MC - there is very little in it once we are moving, thus I think your SC-ed beast will prevail. Just don't do it with the roof down

ive done some runs with the roof up and the difference was shocking!!!! i most look forward to seeing what the car will max out at, im hoping for 180+

Did you have it in "M" mode? I test-drove an M5 and it was fucking epic. Different to the Z4M but then they're totally different cars.
