Z4M bumper on 3.0i

Bit of a dilemma. I have a standard 3.0i and have just purchased a Z4M front bumper on ebay which I intend to fit at some point in the next few weeks.

However..

Now i'm thinking the standard one looks pretty damn good as it is and since i still need to get it resprayed and fitted anyway, i would also save money by not bothering.

Does anyone have any pictures of a sterling grey Z4 with M bumper? I saw one at the nurburgring last year and remember liking it.

For the record i wouldn't be trying to pretend to have an M. It would otherwise be standard with 3.0i badges. Its hardly like fitting an E46 M3 bumper on a E36 compact or a quad piped M badged 316i. I just think it looks good!

No pictures here I'm afraid.

Personally I think the bonnet would go nicer with the Z4's original looks, and maybe aero skirts... those strakes would complement those in the side of the car.

The bumpers imo are the weakest parts of the facelift and M models vs the 'Z4' flame design...

BUT, the front bumper of an M does look pretty mean, so if you have one, then I wouldn't think any less of you for using it :D

Not Sterling grey, but PVR's is the closest match I could find...

I've also purchased an M bumper, but now am having two minds about it.

P.S. don't forget you need the parts for the brake ducts.

Found one.

Ignoring the blacked out grilles/ lights (which aren't to my taste) and the fact its in the U.S so has no number plate - it looks good.

BUT like peddy, I'm not so sure. On balance is probably looks a tiny bit better, but for a £400 mod is it worth it.. :idunno:

I went through this thought process a couple of years back when drawing out the end game of mods on my car and decided against it. I opted for a facelift bumper and customised rear with diffuser. It was too easy to go down the ///M front and rear route, quad exchaust and leave me open to lookalike questions. Preference was to avoid that and also avoid any insurance premium issues that come with adding such parts.

Your Zed your choice, but it will look nice if you do it correctly, which may mean furhter mods to look 'right'

Oh decisions decisions, I know exactly what you mean. I'm trying make my mind up about what to do and flip from an M bumper to facelift back to M and then an Aero, nearly went for M on ebay but they wanted far too much money for it IMO at over £200 especially as you say when you factor in get it sprayed and buying the brake ducts.

What I really like the look of the Gurt racing tips in Japan that make a Facelift bumper look like an M but they are just stupid money for what they are.

So not really any use but if you want to sell the M bumper for £50 I could be interested. :D

That zed doesn't look right IMO. black internal lights, amber indicator lens, 18 CSL reps all make it look 'fake'.

I think I might go for a facelift front, but then i know CJ's going to give me some stick for it! :) Would just then need a quad setup with rear difuser and i think i'd be 'done'! :P

I agree, it looks modified and i'd only want an OEM look. But if you just focus on the bumper itself i think it looks great.

The car i saw at the nurburgring was identical to mine. Sterling grey with ellipsoids with M bumper and it looked superb. Better than a real M infact because of the colour/wheels and I don't like the M bonnet - it makes the front of the car look too high.

I have an inspection 1 and an MOT coming up in a few weeks. If nothing needs doing to it then i'll probably get it fitted. But if i get a big repair bill then one M bumper with brand new brake ducts/bottom grille will be appearing in the classifieds.

if anybody wants rid of their M front bumper let me know, as after my meeting with the fence post, and my original bumper requiring a re-spray, it makes sense for me to replace it.

Same here.... although I need to save some cash for a bit so a few months’ time would be appreciated!

I dont know why, but I have a real need to get an M bumper and fit some thin DRL's along the top of the brake duct openings.... if done right ( covered back along the line of the bumper ) I think it could look the nuts....

and NO I dont want to be an Audi driver, just think it updates the look of the car!

thanks
Danny
